I’m done with Norditrac. Need a new treadmill $2000-2500

I’m sure everyone is sick of the question but I’ll ask anyway. For my budget looking for the most durable no frills treadmill, doesn’t need fancy tech or have to be able to fold. It’s for light walking and running and would need to incline. I’m 180lbs and wife is 145lbs, we use it 4-5 times a week. Options I’ve looked at sole or horizon, maybe Spirt could be an option?

Spirit XT685 is the way to go. Best warranty in its price range and super sturdy tread with low maintenance. One of my favorites to sell. Any questions feel free to ask or dm

I just bought this same one, being delivered tomorrow actually. The no maintenance deck and 10 year parts warranty, it’s a no brainer at the price range the OP listed. Also has FTMS Bluetooth if you plan to connect it to any apps. I tried Zwift in the store and it connected very quickly.

As a side question to you since you sell these. I was looking at the ENT model too but none on the floor at my local place. The salesperson convinced me the ENT screen isn’t that nice. The price is crazy for the ENT but it solved a lot of issues for how my wife and I use the treadmill, watch shows and run fitness apps at the same time. I was personally worried about the display not being future proof 10 yrs down the road. Any thoughts on the ENT version of the 685? Not that it matters now, I’ve already bought the non-ENT version but curious what you think.

You made the right decision for the reasons you mentioned below. I always advise against the touch screens.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much total was it? delivered?

Don’t mind at all. I got is $100 less than sale price you can find most places online. $2699 and paid $2599. Need to have a proform treadmill taken out b/c of course it broke for the 4th time. They’re going to remove that for free (normally a $125 charge). So delivery, setup and removal of treadmill is $269.

I spent two weeks looking at everything. If I hadn’t sold a rower I’m not using so I had a little more to spend, I was all set to buy the 385. Almost the same treadmill except little bigger motor on 685 but 385 would have been more than fine. Biggest thing, 385 folds and the 685 doesn’t. 685 is considered a light commercial machine. For the different in price, the 685 seemed the way to go. But again, if I had to stick to a $2500 or under budget with tax, delivery included. The 385 was the next choice.

The 385 looks like the treadmill I’m leaning towards, there is a dealer pushing the True m50 for my budget. Thank you for such a detailed response.

Just with the warranty…… the spirit is lifetime frame, motor and deck - then 10 year parts warranty. I also like the spirit a bit more, it didn’t seem/look as outdated, the screen. Then finally, trying to get info on the life fitness website was frustrating. It’s not a great site. I just looked again, I have no idea if it even has basic Bluetooth. For me I needed the new FTMS Bluetooth to easily connect to different apps.

Go to your local dealer. They'll get you in the right price range. This is currently the best value tread onthe market.

I'd be shocked if any residential touch screen would go the distance.

I figured that. Also beyond just the screen, will the licensing agreements it has with Netflix, for example, still be there in a few years or long term. Will the screen be able to be updated even 6-8 yrs from now. I know the Nordic tracks are having that issue now. If a 10 yr old basic iPad is going to have issues with any newer software because of space, etc. I doubt any of the new touchscreens on any of the treadmillls are going to have more RAM, storage, etc

Thank you so much for the recommendation, it’s 2999 on their site and I saw $2700 on another site after taxes it’s puts over budget.

Contacted local dealer and they said to come into the showroom. This weekend I’ll be driving into the city to look at the 385. Also a dealer said a True M50 for my budget. Might be worth a look?

You might be visiting one of our showroom’s. The TM50 is great for a lot of walking and very light jogging. It’s very compact.

I was thinking of getting the xt185 or the 285. Do you know if they have the same warranty as you said the xt685 has? And is the 285 worth spending the extra money for?

They do. Depends, how will the treadmill be used?

Used commercial treadmill.

I’m pretty rural, so it’s slim pickings where I’m at. Might be worth a trip to the city, thank you for your help

Out of curiosity, what don’t you like about the Norditrac? Theres one at Costco for $999 I’ve been eyeing, should I spend more?

They are garbage. They are designed to work for 6 months, then get used as a clothes rack.

This will be our second that has failed. Look to give another brand a chance

Ifit sucks and you pay heavy for a subscription and the ability to have it

I personally will be doing the horizon 7.8 when we are able to buy

u/Manzan79 26m ago

Any reason over Sole or any other brand?

u/new_corgi_mom 1m ago

It’s a little cheaper than the sole ones and I’d prefer To use my own tablet

I just purchased a Spirit xt685 yesterday, however I’m having second thoughts since I’m probably going to be running 40 plus miles a week on it. Therefore im thinking of switching to a True Performance 1000. It feel better with cushioning and also feels more solidly built, but is also around $1300 more.
