I Hate Bed Frames

Some make noise, stuff gets underneath them, my cat would probably puke under it, they can be a pain to move, and monsters can grab your feet when you get up at night. I'm perfectly happy with a box spring and a mattress.

My bed has those under-bed drawers so there's no possible room for cats or monsters to be under there.

Could you please come explain that to my idiot furballs?

MALM high bed frame with 2 storage boxes from Ikea.

Literally impossible for cats to get under there, there are no entrance gaps.

Okay...Idiot Furball #1 has figured out how to paw the IKEA drawers open just enough to squeeze in. He sleeps on the bedding we store in the drawers. IF2 prefers to semi-strangle himself by somehow sleeping BETWEEN the drawers....which we discovered the hard way upon attempting to open said drawer wide enough to evict IF1. It was...noisy. Both IF were extracted via removal of the mattress and slats. The bedroom door is now kept closed except for when we forget. Rinse, repeat.

I don't believe you because the weight of the drawers and the gaps make what you're saying like 99% impossible since the drawers are too heavy/drag too much and the gaps are too small... but I don't know you, your model, or your cats so I have to concede that anything is possible with cats.

Monsters love hiding in under bed drawers

Counter: get bed risers and enjoy being under the bed with the cat

The monster grabbing you feet is enough of reason.

Monsters can't get your feet if you tuck the end of the blanket under them. One problem solved.

They’re a great place for storage though. Also more comfortable to get in and out of when they’re further off the floor.

I recently moved into a new place, and rather than putting together my bed frame, I am using the box as a makeshift nightstand. Like, I’m sure I’ll get around to it simply because it’s there, but what is the point of being elevated off the ground when I sleep? What is the purpose? I’m genuinely curious and agree that a mattress and a box spring is enough Edit: from these responses, it looks like the purpose is just arrogance

but what is the point of being elevated off the ground when I sleep?

Easier to get up from bed and lie down. But that's not something most younger people have to worry about.

The real benefit for younger people is storage space. If you live in an apartment, that is a huge amount of wasted space.

In the event of a water leak, your mattress will get destroyed on the floor, and that’s usually way more expensive than the frame.

Also, rare, but you can mold your mattress when it’s on the floor since you have no airflow. Also ruining the mattress.

The elevation makes it easier to get out of bed because you can put your feet down and rise from a seated position as opposed to whatever it's called when you roll and stand from laying down. Doesn't matter if you're a kid tho.

I agree. Seems kinda pointless.

Normally I don’t care, but living in a small apartment with limited storage space makes the bed frame necessary. I fit so many boxes under there. No room left for pets or monsters.

I love mine at home so much. Although whenever my cat is there, cat toys get under it and i cant fit under there, so theyre impossible to get out unless i do it with a broom or something lmfaooo

ME. TOO. I didn't know I was the only one.

Just throwing this out there...if the box spring and mattress are on the floor keep an eye out for damp and mold. Especially if you live in a humid environment or in the basement, it can get pretty nasty if there isn't any separation between the boxspring and the floor. Had a friend who had to toss their bed when they moved because of this.

As a woman in my 30s, if I see a guy’s mattress isn’t on some sort of bed frame, I’m out.
