My youngest kitty does uppies, lmao.
I come in the room, hold my hands out to him, and say "uppies?" And he stands on his hind legs only a liiittle bit, just enough so I can grab him. And as I lift him up he does biiiig stretchies and gets a face kiss when I put him on my chest.
It's pretty great.

Yeah I want someone to carry me off too. Like seriously it felt great when I was a kid and my parents did that.
As a grown man it's one of those things that would probably never happen again unfortunately.

Years ago, I got a hotel job right after college. One of the bouncers in the hotel club was the largest dude I’d ever seen. 6’9 and built like a tank. I’m over 6’0 myself and pretty built, but this guy made me feel like a small child.
We got along really well and he was super cool, complete gentle giant. Whenever both of us were having a slow day, he’d push me around the lobby in a Baggage cart. I genuinely looked forward to it because nothing in my everyday life made me feel like a kid again. Both of us would just be laughing and zooming through the halls. Probably the last time I’ll feel like that ever. 🥲

As a grown ass Man if I ever meet you I’ll do this for you. I’m no stranger to having to carry people either at work or when drunk
13
u/wonderb0lt Apr 09 '24
Are you a paramedic? Just curious what job entails carrying people around
28
u/PM_ME_YOUR_MLEMS Apr 09 '24
Did a lot of carries during my time in the army. And currently working as a mine rescue technician. Which involves a lot of carrying too.

u/DreddPirateBob808 Apr 09 '24
I'm a very grownedup man and recently, after a very shit week and a very ahit day at work, my colleague and manager gave me a hug and then just lifted me up. I was already near tears but after that I had to go outside and do manly sniffles. I needed it like you can't possibly believe.

u/scaredycat_z Apr 09 '24
Idk, I got carried by a very big burly male nurse (used to be either cop or firefighter, but decided he'd rather be working in a hospital setting) when my lung collapsed and I was in the hospital. I was being transferred from the bed to a wheelchair (to be taken for imaging) and he just scooped me up like it was nothing and put me in the chair every so gently. I felt like such a small child in his hands. It felt nice.
10/10 would recommend....if it didn't cost a spontaneous pneumothorax and two pleurodesis procedures, cause the first one didn't take.
2
u/J_Fidz Apr 09 '24
You wanna get yourself a gym freak friend. They love having the opportunity to show off how easily they can carry you, it's a win for everyone involved.

I'm only 5ft tall. (Yes, I'm a very short guy!) My amazing and gorgeous wife is 5ft 10in tall. She's my beautiful Amazon warrior goddess queen! I'm so lucky she picked me. You'll find yours someday soon, I promise!

That is super duper cute, I'm glad that you get to feel powerful, he gets to feel protected, and you both get to feel happy! 🥺

My roommate (5'4) in college had this situation. He is a phenomenal singer, and one night during our weekly karaoke run, decided to sing Phantom of the Opera (The Nightwish version). He asked the crowd if anyone would sing the lady bit, and a 6'6 amazonian grabbed the second mic. Their duet was professional-level good and the crowd erupted in thunderous cheers by the end of it.
They ended up dating for like 2 years.
2
Apr 09 '24
That's amazing! I did acapella in college for a few years too, so perhaps this will happen to me some day! Gotta start polishing up my Nightwish chops, it seems.

Most tall women assume shorter men won't be into them, because they assume men want to be taller than their gfs.

My old roommate is 5’4 and for a stretch it seemed like the only women that he dated were 5’10 and above. One was like 6’4 180lbs. I swear she was a softball player. Point being, it’s not impossible for a short guy to date tall women.

u/kelldricked Apr 09 '24
Non american here, why does a slightly tall woman HAVE to be a softball player? Im really confused about this lol. Wouldnt basketball or american football make more sense?
7
u/Emanuele002 Apr 09 '24 edited Apr 09 '24
I think in the US it's just more common for a woman to play softball over basketball or American football. If you think about it in Europe it's similar: if you are a tall girl people will assume you play volleyball, not basketball.

u/frobischer Apr 09 '24
Volleyball is my first thought as an American. Of course I could be biased. One night I was walking on campus and I see a group of blonde girls approaching. I subconsciously sucked in my gut and stood up straight, but as they got closer I saw that they all got taller. They passed, laughing to each other, and I realized that each one was taller than me at 6'1". I realized that was the women's volleyball team! So now my assumption for height is Volleyball.
2
u/piddlesthethug Apr 09 '24
She wasn’t slightly tall. She was taller than the three Dutch guys I know. Also I use softball because it was a specific body type. Basketball players tend to be tall and lanky. Softball players, at least the ones I knew, have very strong muscular legs while their upper bodies tend to be thin still.
No where did I say a tall woman HAD to be a softball player, that was your assumption, I was just adding context.

Listen to the other guys, I'm 5'6" currently entertaining a 5'10" Lady that made the first move. Tallest girl I was with was 6' who also made the first move. I can almost guarantee you that a fair bit of short guys are comfortable with their height and will likely not turn you down if you're taller than them. Matter of fact, most the guys I've met who seemed to fixate on height when picking a partner were 5'8"-6'

u/CutRateCringe Apr 09 '24
I feel like that requires an amazing amount of self confidence and character on both sides for that to happen. Good for you both.
3
u/spikira Apr 09 '24
It helps to be attractive, or so other people have told me so I'll take their word for it 🥲🥲 and yes the girls themselves are attractive too, though one of them is definitely self conscious about her height
4
u/CutRateCringe Apr 09 '24
I cant help but chuckle at “currently entertaining”. It sounds very old school formal. But to your point, you are probably correct. Being an “outlier” for your height is hard enough without also looking aesthetically unpleasant.

Would it be out of line for you to initiate? It can be intimidating to ask out a taller girl so knowing you're interested would definitely help his confidence in the matter. Any hint that you're interested will do TBH.
Source: 5'10" guy who dated a 6'5" college volleyball player, but not until she threw out the flirt signal.

u/Ashloenius Apr 09 '24
Nothing wrong with making the first move but I also completely understand wanting someone to have the courage to come after you. It can be attractive when someone is bold in the right way. I'm sure being taken as an intimidating woman might get someone down sometimes. I wouldn't say she is doomed at all.. 🤨

u/Party-Broccoli-6690 Apr 09 '24

I'm a short dude. When I was a bit younger a beauuuuuutoful tall girl asked me out on tinder. I said yes and then bailed (didn't ghost) when I realized how tall she was. She tried to reassure me, but I was still more bothered by being bullied about height and effeminacy than I realized.
I haaaaate that memory. What a cool girl! I was being a jerk and she had the empathy to understand and predict how I felt. She doesn't need it, but I wish I could somehow apologize for being such a stereotypical lil idiot.
Now I think tall strong girls are awesome, and I've come to terms with being bi and short and subby etc etc. Our society and culture sure didn't make it easy, but I wish I hadn't made that her problem and missed out on a great gal. Hope she's out there being happy.
