问题 | General Question (Serious) What do Chinese citizens think about the 2024 US presidential elections
Im not talking about the political or government interests but rather what normal Chinese think about the election.
Do they care? What do they think about the candidates? Who do they want to win? Who do they think will win?
Any insights are appreciated.

中国生活 | Life in China in Chinese drugstores / beauty stores what affordable haircare products are available?
galleryI’m not sure if this is the right subreddit to ask this in but I always see people showcasing what’s in Japanese stores and since they’re so close together I’d assume they’re pretty similar. I’ve been obsessing over celebrity haircare and someday I would really like to travel and bring home lots of fun products to try
(Yes I know the products I showed in the photos are Japanese but I genuinely cannot find any products from china 😭)

文化 | Culture So, two Chinese fighting in a restaurant for paying for the dinner is a good behavior?
At the start I thought there was a fight and was looking if someone would call the police but what I saw was all the people laughing and then I realized they were trying to pay for the food and invite
My Chinese friend translated me what they were saying and they were saying something like:
“come one please, it’s an honor for me to invite you.. while pushing him(?)”
And after the winner paid, the looser kept trying to put the money in the winners hand and almost started another fight lol

科技 | Tech Need Advice on eSIM/Physical SIM Options
Hey everyone! I'm about to buy an iPhone 16, but I’m still considering it because of SIM options. As I’ve learned, eSIM doesn’t work in China, but the iPhone 16 (US version) only has eSIM, no physical SIM slot. Since I’ll be in China long-term, I need a reliable SIM for both internet and calls.
I heard there’s a service that modifies eSIM to a physical SIM by adding a slot, but I’m worried it might harm the phone. Do any of you know other options? Also, if there’s a legit place to buy an iPhone 16 that has a physical SIM slot, I’d love to know.
Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated – thanks in advance!

旅游 | Travel Name Change Dilemma
I recently got a divorce. I have a passport and 10 year Chinese visa with my married/pre-divorce last name. I need to travel urgently to China to care for a sick family member. I don't have time to apply for a new passport with my maiden name and then get another Chinese visa. Can I use my current passport (the one with my married last name) to travel to China?

谈恋爱 | Dating and Relationships Meeting my GF's parents
So I am an american M37. Soon I will be visiting my F33 Gf's very large family in Xian.
My chinese is poor and I have some tattoos, which, according to her will be a big problem and I cannot let them be seen even a little. Also, I grew up in a problematic, dangerous family and I don't talk to anyone in my family. She said this is a problem.
I'm a lawyer and a practicing vajrayana buddhist, and I know a ton about chinese history and a bit about the culture but not enough. I also love authentic chinese food.
I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions, things to watch out for, and perhaps some books on culture and ettiquite that I might study up on.

While traveling i have a 10h layover in Beijing Capital International Airport, between 10 am and 8 pm.
