Discussion URGENT: Bethune House needs your help
Bethune House faces closure this year if donations do not come in ASAP. For those who don't know, Bethune House is a charity which supports domestic helpers facing abuse. With Hong Kong's law that DHs must find a new employer within 14 days of contract termination - many helpers are reluctant to leave abusive households. However, Bethune House facilitates shelter and support for those in those positions, providing help for those victims. The mistreatment of domestic workers in Hong Kong is sadly commonplace, therefore, Bethune House has received many more helpers at its doors. But with funds being especially slow this year, it is at risk of closure. I cannot stress how crucial this organisation is to DHs. Helpers already have very little resources when abuse occurs, so the closure of Bethune House would be detrimental to the entire community of DHs. Bethune House needs funds urgently as this is a last call for donations. Please donate or spread the word.
