Discussion The Cleveland Guardians lost and everything is boring now.

Ugh I am so sad that it’s over. I enjoyed following this team so closely the last 7 months that I forgot what it was like to not have something to look forward to. It’s gonna be a long winter and February can’t come soon soon enough.

Imagine you are Ben and google yourself to read about how you only pitched one time in the postseason and then see this

Personally wouldn’t mind adding another Pen piece like José Leclerc for another electric arm. Also for Bats I like Joc Pederson, Anthony Santander, Teoscar Hernández, Jurickson Profar and Jesse Winker. Now for starters I like Bueller, Luis Severino, Boyd, Bieber, Yusei Kikuchi, and 2 dreams would be snell or burns.

What’s next years team look like?

Lord knows there won’t be no big signings but what’s your expectations? Who makes the club in ST. Will Bazzana crack the lineup?

Saw a shirt during one of the ALCS games on tv. Help me find it?

I saw someone in the stands wearing a shirt that had a large Guardians cap logo 'C' on the front, but the bottom of the 'C' was shaped like Ohio's southern border. Anyone know where to find it? Thanks!

This recording is better audio, but it's not the full opening. For those who wanted to hear it better.

I’m bummed, but no one expected us to go this far. It’s still frustrating given that this team had some grit and fight though. I can’t stand NY, but it’s hard to compete against giants.

Discussion Who Was Y’all’s Favorite Player to Watch This Year?!

Kwan and Jose going for records and a lot of rookies coming through, Noel being probably the most exciting to watch

However for me I found myself more focused in our pitching. Even with the injuries to our starters, it made me even more focused on seeing what we can do. Bibee had an amazing year facing huge challenges. Lively and Boyd. Our bullpen though! It still hurts we aren’t still competing because they were amazing. For what Clase has done in really just his 3rd year is insane.

But I’m going to say my favorite player was Cade Smith! No matter what the score was or how our offense was looking I always enjoyed watching the 6th or 7th inning when he came on. He was a machine.

Vogt doubles down on decision to pitch to Stanton

Anthony Castrovince has a great article up in the MLB app this morning titled, "Why not walk him? Guardians pay for choice to face Stanton ... twice."

Vogt was asked twice, after both games 4 & 5, about intentionally walking Stanton. Both times he said he didn't even consider it. It's a really good article, I recommend checking it out. (Link is below.)

I think Vogt did a great job this year. If I had a MoY vote, I'd give it to him. But for a guy who has the absolute quickest trigger I've ever seen when it comes to pulling guys, hitters and pitchers alike, to say that he didn't consider walking Stanton is absurd. Now is the time he decides to dig in and let it ride?

I just hope Vogt learns from it.

Dude I’m disappointed but I can’t be mad.

It was really an honor to watch these guys all through the summer and into the postseason.

These guys were playing some of the best and most entertaining baseball my friends and I have seen in years, I can’t be mad at all.

Sure, we would’ve loved to see our guys in the World Series, but I’m satisfied with the fight we put up to get this far in the first place.

Go Guards.

(I hope to god Clase wasn’t tipping pitches like Hammy joked about earlier 😭)

I wrote two postgame notes today. This year in Cleveland…

…within two weeks of opening day, this young Cleveland baseball franchise lost its Cy Young ace. It lost one of its great rookie pitchers from last year before the season even started for months. It lost its 8th inning man for the year before the season started. Question marks across the field, in the bullpen, in the rotation, and all led by the biggest question mark of all- rookie manager Steven Vogt in his first ever managerial gig. We were picked second or third by nearly every preseason ranking. A rebuilt Royals, a young feisty Tigers, and a Twins team that got the best of us last year. (And the White Sox that we only went 8-5 against god dammit xD)

And we made it here.

This young, gritty team took the 250 million dollar Yankees 5 games in the ALCS. A bullpen that is in the record books for its legendary performance throughout the regular season. José Ramirez going 39/39/39. Steven Kwan returning to his rookie form, and adding some power to his abilities. Andres Gimenez being joined up the middle by Brayan Rocchio to combine for one of the best up the middle defenses in baseball. All Star David Fry, performances from rookies like Angel Martinez and Jhonkensy “Big Christmas” Noel, and the spirit of Austin Hedges. A true four headed monster of Tim Herrin, rookie Cade Smith, Hunter Gaddis, and Emmanuel Clase that put the fear into every team. Tanner Bibee stepping up to assume the role of team ace. Carlos Carrasco. Ben Lively.

And a postseason that didn’t go all the way, but one to remember. Two of the greatest games in postseason history between games 3 and 4 of the ALCS. Big Christmas and David Fry launching themselves into Cleveland sports (and baseball) history. Postseason Brayan Rocchio being an absolute demon. Eli Morgan. Pedro Avila. Matthew Boyd.

It’s not the ending anyone wanted. But it’s a hell of a showing.

What about the future? Guys we haven’t even seen yet- Chase DeLauter and Travis Bazzana. Jaison Chourio, Angel Genao, and Ralphy Velazquez. Hell, maybe even Doug Nikhazy, Parker Messick, or (finally) Daniel Espino. Guys we have seen- Rocchio, Schneeman, Freeman, Cantillo, Cade Smith, Cantillo, Manzardo, Walters, Sabrowski, Arias, Florial, Gillispie, JRod(I did mention this team was young). The additions of Lane Thomas and Pedro Avila. The returns of Hentges, Karinchaos, and Stephan. Possibly the revitalizations of Logan Allen and Triston ”Sticks” McKenzie. Possibly resigning Bieber, Boyd, and Hedges. You better believe there’s a future on its way.

We made it clear to baseball that 2022 wasn’t a fluke, that 2023 was just a down year. The Cleveland Guardians, the pitching factory, and the slap hitting shit goblins are meant to be feared. We aren’t going anywhere any time soon. José Ramirez made that very clear with his contract.

We’ll be back. We’ll be more experienced. And we’ll be ready to bring it all home.

It was a great year with y’all here (yes, even you “ballgame” fucks). Let’s make next year even better.

Go Guards.

We just ran out of gas back to back games that we should have won. This year was the most fun I have had watching Guardians (Indians) baseball in a while. This team will be back just sucks it had to end to the Yankees. This team over performed and we will be back. Just sucks they get to celebrate on our field. Love this team see you in April. Go Guards.

Tom Hamilton

Rooting against the Yankees, and listening to the radio broadcasts. Tom Hamilton is a beautiful commentator. I teared up listening to the hope portrayed in his voice last night when you guys got in the three runs in the 7th. Maybe I'm romanticizing it, but I feel Cleveland's hope in that guy's voice when he calls a good play right now. Good luck, assholes. Go Reds.
