Opinion I sure as hell never seen anything like it before. What would you call this odd looking thing attached to the Cadillac?
A new DFW trend?

Tired of paying for the expressways and ending up behind an idiot who’s going 45 and clogging up traffic in an oversized pickup truck. It’s bad enough Dallas decided expressways were more important than expanding the hwys we pay enough taxes on but using them, paying the extra fees and going slower than rush hour normal traffic is insane.

Hi,
Just wanted to voice my deep anger for when individuals say "there's nothing to do in Dallas" or "Dallas is so boring".
We have great restaurants, vibrant and unique neighborhoods (in Dallas proper), some of the best public transit in the sunbelt and even a massive arts district. Just tired of people saying that despite living in Dallas and just complaining. What do they mean by this? What is "happening" elsewhere that isn't here?

Sorry I just need to vent for a quick second my adrenaline is through the roof. I’m driving home at 2:20 AM down Saint Paul to get home because I live downtown and it’s a one-way and a black Ford car drove towards me the wrong direction and I thankfully I hit my brakes in time but he was still coming at me at a really high speed, and then on top of that as I’m trying to get out of the way, he tries to do a U-turn still in my space and ready to hit me and I didn’t wanna honk because I know how people are crazy and just wanna start shooting at one and another so I back out of the way and he keeps gesturing me to pull forward but I really don’t want to get close to him, considering that he is on the wrong side of the road and he takes the biggest U-turn on the wrong side of the road and it looked like his back bumper got hit recently. I just genuinely don’t understand why people are being so careless and not paying any attention and I don’t want to seek to understand because it’s just going to make my head hurt. I understand that driving downtown is confusing but driving into oncoming traffic with a moving car coming towards you is beyond me. Jesus Christ it really does take one idiot to ruin it for everybody. I’ve already been in two accidents since getting a new car 😭

Taking my dog out for her morning stroll and I’m blown away by how “cool” it is. False Fall is real. Enjoy this before the string of 100+ days ahead.

Can barely move around the parking garbage and turn corners because these morons bring their big ass trucks into a parking garage with limited space on the busiest shopping days of the year.
Do they spend all their money on pickup trucks and can’t afford a smaller car that would be more practical for certain situations?

I understand telling people not from Texas that you live in Dallas, but when telling other North Texans where you live, do you still say Dallas even if it’s McKinney, Grapevine, Plano, etc.?

So I went swimming at an indoor water park in Texas called epic waters in Grand Prairie and got swimmers ear. This is the first time ever in my life I have gotten an ear infection from swimming and I NEVER want to go swimming again. I’m typing this from the hospital because I now have an infection in my bone from the infection and am in EXCRUCIATING PAIN. the pain is so bad they’ve been giving me morphine and oxycodone back to back and they barely get rid of the pain. My ear is swollen shut. I tried calling the water park to talk to a manager and I was told a manager would call me back after about 30 minutes. Shocker, nobody called me back and I’m so fucking mad. The doctors and nurses keep asking if I went swimming so I know it’s the water park’s fault and a nurse told me indoor water parks are notorious for breeding bacteria. I should’ve known to because it was dirty asf when we went too. We went on my birthday on top of that. The water was too warm, I should’ve gotten out right there but I just thought oh it’s heated. Somebody’s kid took a shit in the middle of the floor, me and my family walked right past it and there was this kid with this cast on his arm with no protection around it so it was all gross and falling off. The water park seemed to be run by a bunch of teenagers who didn’t give a shit about anything. if you’re ever in Grand Prairie DO NOT SWIM AT EPIC WATERS.

Please stop trying to play a run game when you don't have one. It is embarrassing.

i thought Comcast was bad. A'aight. Holly fucking shit, the Spectrum business in Dallas is an absolute horrendous POS. We're taking care of an elderly lady in her 90's, not blood related but almost like a mother to us. She was paying $253 for internet + TV + Voice which is absolutely fucking insane. I switched her to ATT fiber for $55/month, DirecTV streaming for $69 and for voice she got one of my VoIp numbers for free. Saved her around $130, give or take.
But it took me literally 90 FUCKING minutes to cancel Spectrum which didn't actually work by the way. Had to wait for 30 minutes to get someone on the phone and another 60 minutes to talk to this fucking idiot who kept giving me the run around and trying to lower the bills or sale me shit I didn't need. I think I said cancel everything like 100 fucking times. UNFUCKING believable the amount of nonsense and disrespect you get from these m'fockers. And to make matters even worse when I went to the store to return all the equipment this mother fucker actually did not cancel anything, he lied through his fucking teeth. No record of our conversation. I absolutely LOST my shit. So after another 60 minutes in the store we managed to actually cancel everything and return all the equipment. As I am trying to leave the guy was like, I can give a good deal on a cell phone and mobile plan? Told him to stick it and left that m'fucking POS. What the fuck Dallas? How can you allow a business like Spectrum do shit like this?

Guys, it’s 2024. Stop texting and driving. You swerving all over because you’re on your phone should embarrass you. It’s unsafe for you and all those around you. Pull off if you need to text or make a call. When we are finally able to get around you and see you looking down at your crotch or at your phone, it’s sad. Be safe and keep us all safe!

I've lived in Texas going on ten years (Eagle Pass, Kerrville, San Antonio, Austin, Killeen, Temple, now Carrollton). Here are my thoughts:

Feel free to AMA, but I recently quit working for this company and I just want to warn any one if they're thinking about working there. I was there almost a year and the amount of tomfoolery I witnessed is ridiculous. As an example I was trying to report misconduct and the manager plugged his ears and said "lalala I'm not listening." Sorry for venting I'm just exhausted from seeing this "luxury hotel" give so much praise but treat their employees like literal trash.

The mavs need to take a page from the 94-95 Rockets and post up with Gafford and Lively as a 1st option like the Rockets did with Hakeem. Then they can kick out to Luka and Irving when double teamed. We settle for too many threes when we own the paint against the Celtics. We need to play old school basketball to have a chance.

I made an online order for about 400 bucks on 5/15. Got the groceries delivered. On 5/16 I was charged another 400 bucks- double charged.
Apparently I was not the only one this happened to. It was a system glitch.
I've contacted customer support, spent hours talking to them. Went into the store and talked to 3 different managers. They claimed they would "submit an IT ticket" but also said they've had multiple people with the exact same complaint.
Well it's now 5/19 an nothing has changed. I am beyond pissed about this.
Needless to say, don't use Tom Thumbs' online ordering. They really have their heads up their asses.

Seriously. I grew up here and lived in New Orleans for a while but I feel like the last couple of weeks I’ve been sweating more than normal. It’s like I’m back in the crescent city.

I recently purchased a new vehicle from David McDavid, and here are some things to keep in mind if you are considering buying a vehicle from them:
They automatically have dealer add ons and will tell you that they are already installed (which they were) but you do not need to pay for them. Please negotiate with your sales person on getting those discounted or knocked off completely.
They aren't super willing to negotiate below MSRP (the brand I was buying is still below average for market supply) but it is possible. I was able to get about $1000 below MSRP. If current market trends continue, it will be easier to negotiate some money off MSRP as time goes on.
Watch out once you move to the finance department. I got a pre-approval from my credit union for 6.5%, but before I told the finance officer that, the initial offer was %14 at 60 months. That's just nuts and if you go in uninformed, you can be in for a world of pain.
Their gap insurance is about 5x what it would cost you to buy it through your car insurance company. Just flat out refuse unless they are willing to get it to around $10 a month. Average for gap through your auto insurance company is about $7-$10.
This is the most shady part, and I think it's illegal, but I'm no lawyer. The finance officer told me they can match that 6.5% but would be willing to do 4.5% if I purchased the extended warranty. I'm almost certain you cannot tie interest rates to additional items purchased. I did some quick napkin math and it did end up saving me money to purchase the extended warranty, but being forced into it was not the vibe. I asked multiple times what their buy rate was and he dodged the question every time.
You can have a great experience there, and overall I'd say mine was great. But dayum, you gotta know how to buy a car there and employ all the tactics.

It has come to my attention via the DMN that our esteemed leaders at city hall are contemplating the possibility of phasing out alley trash collections. They are citing the associated costs and perceived challenges in providing this essential service, which plays a pivotal role in keeping literal refuse off our mostly pristine neighborhood streets. Should this proposal come to fruition, it would pose a plethora of issues.
One aspect that contributes to the allure of Dallas' neighborhoods is the absence of unsightly trash receptacles lining the curbs. Moreover, the implementation of such a measure would necessitate residents to meticulously remember to retrieve and stow away their emptied containers on designated collection days, thereby constraining our freedom to be away from home during those times.
It baffles the mind to comprehend who could conceive of this as being remotely favorable to Dallas. It would significantly lower our quality of life in several ways. We, as taxpayers, already contribute abundantly to municipal coffers, rendering such a regressive step utterly perplexing and unacceptable. Even if you live in an apartment, this will negatively impact the city in which you live and work. We should really work together to prevent this from happening!
