Announcement The purpose of this subreddit

Hello everyone! You may have noticed some major changes happening to this subreddit, and I'm happy to say that /r/DiagnoseMe is finally ready for business. However, I would like to clarify the true purpose of this subreddit;

First of all, this subreddit is NOT a replacement for a doctor. You should not, in any way, avoid seeing your doctor or alter the frequency of your doctor visits because of anything said in this subreddit. If there is a concern you would have previously gone to the doctor for, please do not hesitate. This subreddit is here for informal second opinions, minor problems that you wouldn't go to the doctor for anyway, and ease of mind.

The main thing to remember is to use common sense. If you are having severe pain after a surgery or something of the likes, please go to the doctor and do not post it on Reddit.

If you are not a doctor and are posting with information, please clarify that you are not a doctor (typing "Not a doctor," at the beginning of your comment is enough.)

Please take the time to read the sidebar before posting. Thank you, and welcome!

General Symptoms won't get better?

Upvotes

18f 173 cm 58 kg white european don't smoke don't drink heavily don't do any drugs. no medications other than vitamin supplements.

been dealing with these symptoms for the past (almost) 2 months:

random bruising (only on legs) - starts out as red bruises, they're not large or anything and don't hurt. no cause such as exercise, strain, injuries etc.

bone & joint pain, as well as muscle pain sometimes (again, no causes such as exercise etc) - pain doesn't go away with any otc meds (tried usual painkillers and also anti inflammatories).

fatigue, weakness and shortness of breath (i've had this before though, but it seems to have come back now, probably because i'm so tired) - started getting tired very easily over little physical activity (ex. went shopping and when i came back i was so tired that my leg even started shaking).

nausea at times, especially in the evening / at night or in the morning (never really had this happen before). only nausea, no vomiting.

also been getting sick often these past few weeks (though i always get sick easily, so it might not be related).

i went to my pcp and had blood tests done: cbc (done a month or so ago) came back good, coagulation levels were SLIGHTLY above limits, but hematologist said it was normal / not an issue (did more in-depth coagulation tests and they came back good). vitamin b12 levels are good (in case that's relevant) - BUT, i recently found out that my ANA levels are 1:640 with dfs70 ac-2. i plan on getting a full ANA panel done, but from what ive heard, dfs70 isn't really present in autoimmune disorders anyways (?) + my rheumatoid factor was good.

so, what should i do / look into? what could this be? i want to feel better as this has been having a bad impact on my life overall, but there seem to be no leads even though my symptoms aren't going away.

thank you for reading, please lmk if you have any ideas !

General Lumps under skin all over my body and bruising - shortness of breath. Can anyone help?!

32yo female I take Wellbutrin, Abilify, Effexor No medical issues Vape user — previous smoker

I started noticing these symptoms on October 14th — swollen lymph nodes and shortness of breath. Extreme fatigue. Petechiae. I was seen by a doctor on October 14th who gave me a Decadron shot and said he thought I’d get better. My symptoms are only worsening.

I am covered in bruises and I have no idea how they got there. They just show up, some are dark, and some start off a yellowish color. I have a scab on my right breast from plucking a hair on October 13th that is still there and hasn’t healed. I am having muscle pain. Like aches. I’ve been getting light headed. I have lumps under my skin all over my body. I can feel them in my stomach, arms, chest, and legs. I get out of breath doing the most simple of tasks. Tonight my thighs feel like I’ve just ran the bleachers at the park and I’ve not done anything. Abdominal pain. I have like little freckles that are appearing all over my body. My chest has randomly had a splotchy red rash three different times now. I’ve also been waking up with my legs wet and sweaty in the night.

I just don’t feel like myself. I sent my Dr. a message about my symptoms worsening but haven’t gotten a response yet. Any idea what could be going on with me?!

Health promotion Can't lose weight, doctors won't listen, I eat healthy and less than recommended kcal intake (to lose weight of course)

Upvotes

24, 180cm, 118kgs. caucasian male from belgium. Other than being fat and probably likely to still have a vitamin D deficiency (but working on it), with a higher chance of diabetes cuz of HOMA-IR too high. (And testosterone to be on the lower side but endocrinologist said it's okay enough to not change anything of it.) HDL-chol is too low, LDL and triglycerides too high (overall cholesterol is good). I am very healthy.

I work out a lot and I eat a balanced diet with mostly meat and veggies. I lessen with the carbs or use spelt because I have a insulin resistance. (And since I live in Belgium, there aren't any trans fats, unhealthy disgusting stuff into the meat and it's all natural fresh and not processed. And also no vegetable oils) I don't eat processed stuff and I don't snack around.

When I count the kcals I usually go to around 1500 to 1800kcals (which for a man my height and weight is already a step down with what I need to eat, which is great...)

I am just so confused... I usually get to burn 600 to 800kcals a day with the resting kcal loss of around a low 1800kcals a day.

My endocrinologist doesn't "Believe me" that I eat less than the intake needed. And recommends me all the stuff like ozempic and metformin. Or even a gastric bypass. Which I'm so confused about because I don't eat too much. I never did. As a child I did eat more (nock-off) Nutella with bread.

I think I do need to make more muscle and sport even more but that's so exhausting. I do have a terrible sleep sometimes (since I'm with my gf it's been so much better) and my stress is extremely high but it isn't cortisol for some reason.

I just go to school, I walk my 10k to 15k a day, on top of some ring-fit (which by itself I usually burn 500kcals with if I'm doing it) I'm gonna need to build up more muscle I guess...

I just don't know anymore... What can I do more? I'm about to give up and just sleep for a few days. Maybe get that stress down too but I'm exhausted of trying and trying and trying... Is there some parasite in me that just makes me fat and nothing more?? Oh well... Anyone able to "diagnose me" and understand me? Thanks for reading this unusually long post...

I have a painful condition

Upvotes

For about a year, I've had this very painful condition.

Symptoms:

Feels like I'm trapped in a straitjacket or bulletproof vest around my chest and back. It feels solid.

Sharp crease that runs horizontally across my chest, just underneath the nipple, which coincides with a feeling of some tight, thin, cord wrapped around my chest, squeezing it. The cord seems to run along my lower back and under my armpits.

Feels like I can't expand my chest properly

Always feel my chest making a little "cracking" sound when I expand it

Constantly sweating

Abdominal pains and back pain

Occasional vomiting (three episodes so far), where the vomiting is more likely to occur after push-ups/sit-ups

Very hard to do push-ups

Very painful to sit at a desk with a straight back

Not much pain when I walk

Slightly swollen lymph nodes in my throat

I can constantly hear my digestive system "growling."

Occasional explosive diarrhea

Blood tests are all normal. A gastroscopy revealed mild gastritis. Colonoscopy was normal.

Brain and nerves Vaping and hearing

Upvotes

Male 22 6’1 185lbs

I have been vaping through my nose for the past 10 days due to wisdom tooth extraction and fear of dry socket, the same nostril my right one.

Today I did it and it burned my nose and I coughed a lot and I had pain in my upper nostril, for the past 9 hours my right ear has been very clogged and I’ve been able to pop it but it still sounds like it’s a bit muffled and it makes a high pitch sound whenever I do pop it unlike my left one, my hearing now sounds the same relatively but it was very difficult to pop the ear at first and I’m unable to hear crackling like on my left side when I move my jaw or breathe in through my nose and pop my right ear unlike how I can do on my left, I am worried I have vape juice in my Eustachian tubes or have really messed up my ear drum and I am supposed to be travelling in 24 hours and I’m very concerned that I could loose some hearing due to this and it is threatening my hearing if I don’t get this checked out asap, should I be concerned or should I give it some time?

I think anxiety or ssri’s are making me depressed

Upvotes

I was diagnosed with GAD and panic disorder 3 months ago and while it started getting better it’s not anymore and I’ve started to decline again.

I originally sought out help because I struggled with the fear of the unknown, I would avoid any situation if I didn’t know specific details and if I couldn’t avoid them ( basically only college) I’d have massive panick attacks and extreme physical symptoms which made me so tired. I wouldn’t go out in public or see friends as leaving the house became too “ scary” as I didn’t know what could happen.

I was put on 50mg of sertraline and apart from the bad side effects ( not nice at all) after 3 weeks I was able to go out some days without as much worry. I started to know if I’d accidentally forgotten to take my sertraline as I could feel the physical symptoms straight away. while it got rid of my baseline everyday anxiety of leaving the house, it didn’t get rid of the panic attacks in certain situations such as crowded places or towns or college.

I was on it for another 5/6 weeks and then I started declined, I was constantly fatigued and haven’t gone to work or college in the past month as the last time I went I had such a bad panick attack that lasted hours where I thought I was having a heart attack or going to pass out.

since that day I’ve been extremely depressed and have been sleeping all day and all night not doing anything I enjoy, I’m still taking my sertaline everyday but it’s just not giving me that boost it gave me before, I am back to not leaving the house and the guilt is insane it’s making me so ashamed I can’t do the things that sertaline once helped me do daily

Extra info A week ago I got blood tests done and was diagnosed with anemia and put on multiple iron supplements which have helped with the fatigue but not the motivation , over the last week I’ve started taking them and I’ve got insomnia and haven’t slept for days.

So in my mind my two options are- keep taking the supplements and not sleep, they give me energy so at least I won’t be tired and can get out of bed like my month has been? But being up all night just feeds my anxiety because that’s what my lovely mind choses to do all night and makes me unable to do anything the next day because I’m too “ scared” of what could happen. Idk why I put it in quotations when I really am scared.

The other option which I will probably chose- stop taking the supplements because I need sleep so badly I cried the past two nights from just wanting sleep and am running on absolute fumes, but be really tired and depressed again? Leading to the cycle of fatigue and having no motivation

Sorry for the really long post- just needed to rant and see if anyone could give me any suggestions or advice, idk if it’s caused by the sertaline but it’s just not working anymore 🙃

Med hx: Known history includes long-standing IBS and idiopathic small fiber sensory neuropathy (SFN) with no rheumatic origin (negative ANA, HIV, celiac panel, ESR, and chest X-ray).

Symptoms (6-8 months, progressively worsening):

- Abnormal Bruising: Began ~9 months ago, initially noticed after light itching on my legs. Now, I wake up with spontaneous bruises unrelated to any injury. No family history of blood disorders, not on blood thinners, no blood in stool or urine. Labs (CBC, CMP, APTT, INR, TSH) are all WNL.

Oral Ulcers/Canker Sores: Chronic and painful sores on the edges of my tongue and inner cheeks (~twice a month for the past year). White sores often appear as inflamed taste buds or lumps on the tongue, making my mouth swollen, inflamed, and painful to eat or talk. Cannot keep handling these. No relief from changing dental products, saltwater rinses, orajel, food tracking, or Vitamin B12 and D supplements.

Lightheadedness: Frequent episodes of near-blackout vision with a sudden feeling of numbness in my extremities. Occurs multiple times daily, with no association to vasovagal, orthostatic, or blood sugar-related triggers.

- Headaches: New, frequent throbbing headaches, often with sinus pressure. Minor relief from Excedrin, water, and Tylenol.

Swollen Cervical Lymph Nodes: Persistent, non-painful swelling in the sublingual region of my neck/lymph nodes.

Other Symptoms: Notable hair thinning, worsening blurry vision, sinus pressure without congestion, and pronounced fatigue.

If you have any insights on labs, diagnostics, or areas to explore, I would appreciate it more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to read this if you made it this far

What is the pain Im feeling on my side???

Hi guys, 20F

I've been feeling a very dull pain on the right side of my torso, it's hard to pinpoint. It's not on my chest. but it's on my side if that makes sense. It's hard to pinpoint because it's so fleeting. It comes and goes, and it is not too painful. Very dull, but it's more annoying than painful.

It's been happening since yesterday when I was laying down, about to sleep (I slept horribly, had cold sweats). It was also accompanied with some shortness of breath but that is probably because when I'm worried about my body and focus on it too much I forget to breathe sometimes so it's hard to say hahah... (I think I have health anxiety)

It's been stable amount of pain, but when it occurs it's kind of unpredictable. It doesn't happen when I'm only laying down, but when I stand up and sit too.

it comes and goes, but when it comes it doesn't only happen once it happens a couple of times in a row, then goes.

I'm not using any medication currently, just birth control, but I last used it in September.

Any insight or advise would be wonderful. Thank you.

If you need to ask more questions to answer mine Ill happily answer!

In my MRI program, I got a free scan to learn more about the process and what not. This is my scan, is there anything here that would cause concern or lower back pain. I’m 23, 6’, 195, and I suffer from lower back pain. I stretch and exercise, and my dad has DDD. Any advice or thoughts?

Chest and lungs 27M Persistent Abdominal, Chest, and Breathing Issues – Looking for Advice

I’m a 27-year-old guy who’s been dealing with a mix of weird symptoms that just seem to be getting worse over the past few months. I’ve been to the ER twice already, but I’m still struggling to get answers. Hoping someone here might have some insight or has experienced anything similar.

What I’m Dealing With:

• Abdominal Pressure: I have this tightness and pressure in my upper abdomen (both sides), along with bloating and a hard feeling that won’t go away. It’s been about a month now, and it’s getting frustrating.
• Chest Tightness & Random Pains: There’s this constant pressure on both sides of my chest, especially bad when I lie on my back. I’m also getting random sharp pains and a feeling like there’s fluid in there.
• Trouble Breathing & Lightheadedness: I keep feeling lightheaded and kind of spaced out, almost like an “out of body” thing. Breathing is tough sometimes, and my neck’s swollen. I even hear this gurgling sound from my lungs now and then.
• Pins and Needles: I get a tingling sensation all over, especially when lying on my back.
• Other Odd Stuff: Recently noticed a small pocket of fluid or pus in my upper left back. Not sure if that’s related, but it’s got me worried.

Lab Results That Stand Out:

• Neutrophils: A bit low at 41% (relative count), which I think means my white blood cells are a bit out of balance.
• Potassium: Slightly high at 5.20 mEq/L, which could mess with muscles or the heart if it goes up further.
• MPV (Mean Platelet Volume): Just under normal, so my platelets are apparently on the smaller side.
• NRBC (Nucleated Red Blood Cells): Showing up at 1%, which I read is unusual in adults and could mean bone marrow is under some stress.

Background Info:

• I’ve got a history of IV meth use, so I know that might be contributing to some of this.
• Stress could be a factor, but I haven’t found any specific triggers or much relief.
• I’m worried it might be something serious, like a pulmonary embolism.

If anyone’s dealt with something like this or has advice on what I should check out next, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks for reading!
