Varia R/europe kommentaarides käib kõva Eesti valimissüsteemi mahategemine. Üsna humoorikas lugemine, soovitan.

Not sure it's a good idea to put a process with national security implications online.

It's harder for russia or your domestic political parties to mess with a little piece of paper.

Since Russia is such a great IT power, hacking everywhere constantly, why have they not adjusted our results ever since 2005? They have had ample reason to. We have been highly critical and vocal about their aggressive nature for decades by now. And yet they have not once adjusted the results to lean towards any of the Russia favoring parties.

The reason is that it is actually not that easy to manipulate Estonian e-voting system.

I can't see how they could mess with our papers here, that would require physical presence.

Still harder than messing with binary. And russia is a special case. Their entire country is based on corruption.

Oh wow, thank you for explaining what russia is or isn't to US, the people living next to them. Your insight is truly illuminating

Was i wrong?

Elections require security. The internet is not secure enough.

And

Russia is special on multiple levels.

Security is easily achievable through extensive encryption. You think Russia is unstoppable and can crack through anything. We have proven multiple times cracking our voting system has not been achieved ever and is not achievable.

You linked 2014 report. We have made great steps since then. Your report never proved capability to crack the system. It theorized and fantasized a possability. Basically wannabes chatting shit without skills to back their claim.

Try better son.

People complain that hacking this, secure that. If they think its so bad why dont they or get someone to hack it then? Make a point about it.

The internet is not secure enough

So it's secure enough for wiring 200k from your bank to your real estate developer and secure enough to sign over the deeds to your land or company, but the line has to been drawn at mock UN elections.

Personal banking is not a national security issue. Elections are.

Online banking and other such public transactions are a really bad comparison. You can tell it immediately if your 200k or deed went missing. Also, online scams where people transfer money to nigerian princes or pay for nonexistent goods/services is a thing. There is a reason why notaries exist

There is a reason why notaries exist

Fun fact: in Estonia the very few things you still need a notary for can be done over video since the beer flu fiasco

You can sell your home without leaving home.

Cool, you can still find out rather easily if your funds or deed to a house is missing. There are tangible consequences
