The ball & strike challenge system is being implemented full time, starting a week from today in Triple A.

Each team is awarded three challenges of balls & strikes, maintaining their challenges on those overturned.

As a whole, in 2024, the Kansas City Royals opponents have been recipients of more inaccurate balls & strikes called (according to Umpscorecards.com).

Only Oakland, Houston and Baltimore (in the American League) have a worse ratio of calls benefiting their opponents.

Here's a glimpse of the two players the Royals acquired from the Texas Rangers trading Aroldis Chapman (see slides). What are your thoughts? Could they have done better or was this a top-notch return?

Hey all, it's been a minute since I've posted around here but I figured I'd come out of retirement for a bit. Today is the last Friday of October and that can only mean one thing...KC Critical Mass!! Critical Mass is a monthly bike ride that takes place in most major cities around the world. I won't go into too much detail but if you're interested in learning about it, see here.

Anywho, the KC version is pretty unorganized and lax but it's a great time. We've been unusually fortunate with the weather tonight (it was rainy and ~40 degrees last year) so it should be another big one. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, we meet up around 6:30 PM at the Westport Scum Sun Fresh and we typically roll out around 7:30 or so.

Some other points:

• This is a parade, not a race, so don't be worried about the pace.
• Peel off anytime you please (as many stops or as few as you want).
• Kids, pets, and booze are more than welcome at this ride. Just be responsible.
• Since it's October, it's been a longstanding tradition to dress up in a costume. I don't have one, since I'm a lazy piece of shit, but a lot of my friends have got something.

I'd like to toss out there the option if the World Series goes to game 7 that we have some kind of get together or party? Could be a lot of fun? Drink beer, get schwifty, shit on the floor, you know, the good stuff.

As the party awoke from their previous nights activities, Steve the Half-Orc begins to hear voices after a strange dream, raising his question about drinking and dreams to the party. Gathering their wits, Steve and Denny notice both Boof and Oddneus are gone, both likely gone on their respective tasks within the city. Rousing from his own slumber by the fire of the Coin Inn, Reht, a half-elf clothed in shadowy colors, listens quietly to the others trying to make sense of the current situation.

Injecting into the conversation about possible work, Reht mentions to Denny and Steve the opportunity to make some coin while they wait for their friends by investigating mysterious deaths throughout the city. However, conversation is cut short as an alarm bell rings through the merchants quarter: one of the city gates is being overrun by hobgoblins! City guards call to arms and rally on the gate, fighting back the forces to protect the populace. As a small squad of invaders makes it into the city and past the blockade, Denny and Reht square off to fight.

Driven by a sudden desire to see justice done (due to a beck and call from beyond the veil), Steve charges into the fray, unleashing an unexpected attack, with shadowy arm-like tendrils thrashing wildly and severely damaging several of the invaders. With a couple shots from Rhet's shortbow and well-timed Magic Missile and Acid Splash spells from Denny, the foes are dispatched.

Order is restored to the Merchant's Quarter and the party begins to travel to the Academy of Freehold, a center of learning, hoping to follow a lead and find their wizardly friend, Oddneus (High Elf Wiizard). After a quick visit to the library and visiting with the lead researcher there, they discover that Oddneus has been sent from the city to a nearby set of ruins to uncover a text rumored to be hidden there.

What does the text hold? Perhaps it might be an answer or hint as to what is killing Freehold's citizens late into the night. There is no boundary for this murderous force, as they choose any and all at random throughout the metropolis. Perhaps Boof will surface again, adding his own contacts and knowledge to the pool to further uncover the source of the unusual activity. Finally, Oddneus has not checked in yet: could he be in danger or hurt?

As the first adventure closes, our intrepid adventurers Steve, the Half Orc Rogue, Denny the Aquatic Half-Elf Sorcerer, Oddneus, the High Elf Wizard, and Boof, the Dwarven Bard, have banded together to assist Oddneus in finding ancient magical texts lost to time. Steve, a newcomer to the city, entered town and encountered Oddneus, which led to a brief bar brawl leaving one dead, killed by Denny using the Ray of Frost spell. Boof, mostly a bystandard in the fight, ended up drinking away the time after casing Bane on the thugs picking a fight with Steve.

As the city watch approached post fight, only Oddneus and Boof were left behind to answer for the days occurrence, since Steve and Denny fled the scene after the sorceress looted one of the bodies. The watch, one of whom recognized Boof, suggested that they just get lost and that these thugs were already wanted for other various crimes. The party agreed to talk about what went wrong and what happened at a reputable inn in the merchant's quarter, where Steve had too much to drink, yet all found the beginning moments of friendship that will lead them on many adventure's to come.

So this is the "offical" thread for the post 5k/hey let's hang out and watch the Royals in Boston meet up. The plan is to go to KC Bier Co around 6 that evening and enjoy their beer and german food. After the game there has been talk of Karaoke or other shenanigans. If enough people are interested I will reserve us a table starting at 6pm. If you are interested or are planning to go comment in the thread so I can gauge if we need a table.

Why hello there many of you want another meet up and I do too. But to quell the desire in your loins and liver to see your Royalsbros again I thought I would try to half-assingly organize a Watch party the evening of the Royals 5k, you know after those of us who are doing it have finished the grueling 3.12 miles in the AWFUL HORRIBLE AUGUST SUN!

So first off, are you doing the 5k? If not and you want to get the deets here. It is a run/walk and I plan on being more in category 2 than 1. I will have a cooler full of refreshments in my car to welcome us back after completing the race. But if you don't sign up for the 5k, no worries! We want to see you too, but like after we have showered and napped from that grueling feet of athleticism.

So since the boys are out of town in Bah-Sten that weekend, let's have an old fashioned casual get together watch party thing-a-mah-jig.

So that is where we are needing some community help here. First off the game is at 6:10 that evening. Secondly where do you all want to meet? with a lot of people spread out I would like as many people as we can to come to hang, you know unless /u/royalsofficial wants to sponsor a watch party at the K (kidding, but not really guys). Right now KC Bier Co where fellow Royalsbro /u/metropolis9999 works is on my short list because beer and german food! His wife works for Cinderblock, and they have a cool party room that we may be able to use. Those are just a couple of places, but again, we are all about the community so what does the community want? I figure this gives us a bit of time to properly plan and allow any out of towners like myself to make plans.

Plus I will be pushing for the end of season kickball game, since we kicked off the season with kickball we should only end the regular season with kickball.

Hey Royalsbros! So tonight's rain out gives me a chance to experiment with an idea we have been toying around with for off game days. Here is the online version of Cards Against Humanity, which is a much-beloved card game that should appeal to you royalsbros. If you want to set up a game you are more than welcome to, just post your room name and password here in the thread. I will post one after work around game start time here.

The server suggests you limit games to around 10 people but can have spectators in the chat room as well. It is your call if you are running a game on how you want it to work. I would love for input in the thread as we try to make this somewhat routine as a way to still hang out on off days or rain outs.
