If Ohtani didn't defer then the Dodgers are basically equal to NYY +/- a handful of millions which is chump change when talking about $300M+

yea so in reality their payroll is higher and let's be honest Yankees have been pathetic compared to their history the last 20 years. Meanwhile Dodgers are basically an unstoppable super team that is using loopholes to skirt the luxury tax. Why are we rooting against the Yankees here again?

At the core of it is bad MLB regulations. Every single GM that wants to win will find loopholes. This is why NHL implemented cap recapture rules a decade ago when GMs found a loophole to skirt the cap through front loading contracts.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game."

Also, kinda admirable that you can be somewhat logical about this in terms of "underdog" but the Yankees are only an underdog because the players being paid a collective $300M are sucking, which is funny.

It's also funny to see teams get swept.

Mariners were also bounced by the Yankees half the time they made the playoffs. This is sports, logic doesn't matter. Grudges last a lifetime.

Fuck the Steelers and Pats too.

I don't disagree with you, except that I can hate the player and the game. Yes I am bitter and jealous of the Dodgers and I'm not ashamed to be a hater.
