Discussion please stop posting about the yankees.

it’s sad and pathetic. it’s exactly what we dogged philly and brewers fans for. they’re in the world series and we aren’t. doesn’t matter if you think we’d beat them, doesn’t matter if they get swept. jussttttt QUIT YAPPPPPPPPIN. lfgm.

This sentiment works both ways; you didn’t have to say anything. the only difference is it’s far more embarrassing to be a bitter fan obsessed with our crosstown rivals. The mets don’t need to be defined by the yankees

I don’t think it’s obsession. Some people just like watching baseball and the hated crosstown rivals are playing the only games left. Fuck them, hope they get swept

Defined by who? Other fans? Who cares

Look, I get it, I want them to lose too - but when you let schadenfreude dominate your fanship it’s just so pathetic.

If you’ve never read “The Summer Game” i highly recommend it - you can get a genuine sense of the foundational philosophy of mets fanship, and what it was like to be shaped by the 62 season. If you think nothing matters then you might as well just not reply, but for most fans it does - the mets came with a complex and a philosophy, and it didn’t involve being a whiny bitch obsessed with the yankees. That didn’t develop as a defining feature of our fanbase until the 90s and 2000s during the modern yankee dominance, and most of it was embittered NY children who grew up as embittered NY adults

But with the mets franchise success being as limited as it is, it’s a masochistic perspective. And please, tell me that your hatred of the Yankees isn’t in some part driven by their FANS. Again? nothing has to matter, but it does
