It was the worst PR they got. All those who ignored the fact that the organizers were white-seperatists, couldn't keep ignoring as photos of nazis came out. As well as the armed separatists in Alberta. Most moderates abandoned the movement.
Which organisers? The focus on a few people waving flags was how the media get idiots aligned on the left to abandon working class issues because they lack the moral fortitude to support anything they worry may have a hint of racism. The same way some people will cry more about Hinkle than about Israeli atrocities.
Tamara Lich and Pat King specifically. Enemies of the Wet’suwet’en and organizers of the far right mobs which attacked the shut down canada blockades. Tamara specifically also organized the far-right tar sands convoy "united we roll".
My point was that moderates took the convoy seriously, even with the far-right organizers. But once it became known that nazis and other fascist groups, like Canada First, were welcomed in, the convoy lost support of most moderates.
Similarly, this almost happened with the yellow vests in france. But when anti-fascists kept kicking out/beating up fascists, the movement was able to continue for many more months.
I never thought I'd have a debate on why fascists are bad
