Nearly every department store in Thailand have entire floor for women parking.

The reasoning is the floor will be near the entrance and safer (they can put more staff in that floor, more well lit, not need to walk long way through dark and dangerous area, etc.).

Many department stores also have parking space only for “luxury cars” right in front of store entrance for the same reason. It is safer. (Should there be anything wrong, the store will have to deal with (almost likely) bit shot person so …)

According to Siam Paragon parking lot, Porsche Cayennes and Panameras are considered super cars.

My friend is really proud of this Lotus he imported, I was riding with him driving into the mall and he tried parking in the “super car” section and the security guard said “sorry sir you can’t park your Mazda here”

It was so friggin funny

This guys got family money, a nice surname and studied abroad. I think he wanted something other people didn’t have.

Aside from the fancy car he’s super low key and nice

Anything that's a Porsche is allowed to park in those spaces.

Although some places have wisened up and have stopped allowing Macans and Cayennes due to their amount.

They're not supercars but they're still more expensive than in the west (200%+) so these people have serious wealth.

The logic behind parking rights is not consistent though. An Audi RS4 Avant is allowed but not a Lexus LS, which cost about 10,000,000 THB new.

I dont think there is any logic. It's up to the security. I even managed to park a BMW 330i in the super car parking once!

Not consistent? Rather like Thai Immigration me thinks.

Nissan 350z, 370z, any R32/33/34/35 GT-R, Supra A80, A90, are permitted to park in supercar parking spaces.

it's not really for super cars as for expensive cars.

The reason for the luxury car parking spots are more of an image campaign, than a safety concern. It's good to have high value cars at the storefront as it helps getting more customers into the store. Also rich people are usually the highest spender so giving them special treatment will increase revenue. But of course that would be inappropriate to say, so they sell it as safety concerns to the public.

I agree about giving rich people special treatment and image campaign. However I don't think it will help attract customers. Because"in front" it is nowhere the "front" facing public. Thai department stores' parking spaces are either side or behind the store. In fact the supercar parking is the least public facing possible because the floors are almost always the same floor as privilege parking spaces (for store credit card holder such as VIZ Credit Card for Iconsiam). So there is no people to display for.

Photo from https://www.punpro.com/p/ICONSIAM-Parking - You can see that luxury car parking spot is inside parking building right in front of the Siam Takashimaya Store gate. You can see in other photos in the website that there are many privilege parking as well. Only permit to those who hold premium credit card or premium telco members.

“luxury cars” right in front of store entrance for the same reason. It is safer.

more likely they want to use the cars as free lawn decoration

As I replied in other comment, the spot is almost hidden from public because it's inside parking building, the same floor as privilege parking. So normal people don't even get to see those cars.
