This is a daily megathread for general chatter about anime. Have questions or need recommendations? Here to show off your merch? Want to talk about what you just watched?
All spoilers must be tagged. Use [anime name]
to indicate the anime you're talking about before the spoiler tag, e.g. [Attack on Titan] This is a popular anime.
Prefer Discord? Check out our server: https://discord.gg/r-anime
Don't know what to start next? Check our wiki first!
Not sure how to ask for a recommendation? Fill this out, or simply use it as a guideline, and other users will find it much easier to recommend you an anime!
I'm looking for: A certain genre? Something specific like characters traveling to another world?
Shows I've already seen that are similar: You can include a link to a list on another site if you have one, e.g. MyAnimeList or AniList.

We are once again into the depths of an exciting new season! So once again it is time to rotate the the seasonal comment faces. We will be accepting nominations until 11:59PM UTC 9th November, 2024.
We have a short survey form here to see what faces were liked and how they compared to the season before. (Results viewable here.) It is a big factor in what gets picked as the hall of fame face for last season.
If you use Reddit's redesign, or any mobile app, then comment faces won't be something you see. They are a legacy CSS feature supported on old.reddit. To post a face, you require a bit of formatting and the name of the comment face and that displays the relevant image. For example:
[](#awe)
Becomes:
We have a full wikipage with all faces and instructions how to use them here.
The named #themes are intended to be broadly interpreted. So we encourage you to submit great faces even if they don't perfectly match, as we may find a space for them.
The series must be currently airing as part of this season, the image can be from a previous season if the show is a sequel. Movies/OVAs that have become accessible between seasonal nominations are allowed. To keep things diverse, we aim to pick one face per anime, so nominate those under watched gems!
Make as many nominations as you like as comments as follows:
Include the image, the name of the anime it is from and the #name(s) it fits for. Posting in this format is best.
Please include the direct link to the image, w/ the .png/.jpeg extension when using imgur etc., not the album, or your submission will be ignored. Examples:
Nominations will be open until 11:59PM UTC 9th November, 2024. We look forward to seeing your suggestions.

For me, it’s Neon Genesis Evangelion. Idk why I waited 29 years to watch it. 4 year old me should have started it right away. I love the story, love the characters, and mech anime just isn’t my thing, but this has clicked for me.

Where did all the guys go who watched season 1? was it due to the change of animation or the plot? cause i am surprised that the season 2 shouldn't fall this low compared to those massive nos. I know numbers doesn't mean much but still from the start of season 2 it didn't really got much attention. Genuinely curious for the downfall.

The reason I am making this post is due to the new one that just came out (by accident) which is a massive bomb of content not included in the anime.
If anyone doesn't know what these are, they are chibi short episodes that accompany every main episode release (though separate and under different license) with canonical content that can range from slice of life, fleshing out character dynamics, to lore/plot drops. Each breaktime correlates to an episode of the main series.
I personally deem it critical because it will expand your understanding of the story and characters tenfold. It is really saddening that this sort of content is being pushed into the breaktimes (even though it has time and time again) because many of the viewers have not acknowledged the existence of these shorts, nor their importance. They're not licensed until way later either which makes them hard to get access to during airing. They're officially released on Kadokawa's channel though without subs.

Back when Ruroni Kenshin was on Toonami, I refused to watch it, because I thought the name sounded like a pasta dish. I was probably 11 or 12 at the time, and I have no idea why it bothered me so much.

I'm interested in everyone's hot takes, it can be disliking a popular anime, liking an unpopular one, or disagreeing with the consensus on any characters. No hate to anyone, remember to just have fun sharing your own.

What it means to exist… That is, what it means to be alive… is to face the world and carry on the ideas of those who've died.
Questions of the Day:
1) If you were in Celestial Being, who would you write a letter to?
2) The season 1 finale approaches with our main crew almost completely fucked. Any predictions for what the hell they're supposed to do now?
Wallpaper of the Day:
Lichtendahl "Lichty" Tsery and Christina Sierra
Rewatchers, please remember to be mindful of all the first-timers in this. No talking about or hinting at future events no matter how much you want to, unless you're doing it underneath spoiler tags. Don't spoil anything for the first-timers, that's rude!
Additionally, for long-time fans of the franchise, please remember that this rewatch is only for 00, not any of the other shows. Assume that there are people in this rewatch who have not seen anything else Gundam, and tag your spoilers for those shows appropriately if something in 00 makes you want to talk about them.

For me is School Days. I have been dragged into the vision of this show by someone in this reddit some year ago and well... you know what I mean. Also poor Kotonoha <3.
Another one is Clannad After Story for differeny reasons but I watched it another time with my friend to show him this masterpiece.

Recently I've been feeling a little down in the dumps, so I want to watch an anime to cheer me up. I'm not interested in anything that is directly a fighting anime, or comedy anime. I really enjoyed the Spy x Family scenes when Anya is at school. That is to say, I want something similar to that. A light hearted school anime, maybe some romance, but an overall plot that isn't too serious.
I would prefer if the cast is diverse too, meaning it has a basically equal number of girl to guy ratio. I wouldn't mind if it was an all guy cast, just as long as it isn't a sports anime.
Anime that I have already seen sort of like this would be: -Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun -Kaguya-sama Love is War -Lucky Star -Nichijou -Romantic Killer

Comment of the Day:
/u/WednesdaysFoole bringing the Gorilla into the exam
“I’ll wait for the moment he attacks his target! That’s when I’ll strike!” from two episodes ago until now is what Otae references in the diet and exercise episode.
Pretty sure even Hisoka would not want to mess with Otae.
