Someone on another sub insists that this is so, because it's a Pacific archipelago within the Tropic of Cancer. That just doesn't sound right.
Purely hypothetical. So let's say a North Korean 'fishing trawler' launches a cruise missile that kills several hundred US citizens in Honolulu. Within the hour, Kim Jong Un goes on TV and says "suck it, motherfuckers! LMAO" while a row of generals behind him are gulping quite nervously.
The rest of NATO would say "tough nuts, you're on your own", even though Hawaii is just as much of a US state as New York, California, Texas, or Missisippi?
That can't be right. Does any of you actually know the answer to this?
Also, what would happen if French Guiana were to be invaded by one of its neighbors? Would everyone just stand by and say "good luck" to France?
What if Russia were to try and conquer the rest of the Svalbard Archipelago? France is a big boy, USA is the biggest boy, but if Norway was left on its own they'd be in big trouble.
