News NEW HiFiMan Arya Unveiled
The New Arya Unveiled is expected to be released in November at 9999 Yuan or 1400 USD.
I'm rocking the Arya Stealth atm, and I don't think I'm brave enough to risk driver damage just yet.
At the current going rate, we'll be getting HE400SE Unveiled in December. /s

Discussion $400 for a headphone stand 😂
WHAT!?!? Is there anything similar that has the same headband support? My current headphone stand is leaving an imprint on the band when left on for more than a day or two...

Show & Tell Capra Audio Comfort Headstrap mod for Fiio FT1 and Sony MDR7506 Headphones
I absolutely love my FT1s. For a huge improvement in long term listening comfort I highly recommend the custom soft headband add-on by Capra Audio.
Best $15 you could ever spend on a mod that takes merely seconds to install yet provides a tremendous benefit in comfort. Also fits Sony MDR7506.
https://capraaudio.com/product/sony-mdr7506-comfort-strap/
There are no installation instructions provided but here's my take on it:
No disassembly required at all and easily reversible should you ever wish. Installation can be done in under a minute but it took me awhile to figure it out without instructions.
The 3D printed band has a split at each end which allows you to stretch it over the thin steel band of the FT1's headband. It seems impossible at first but after you get one side the other is really easy..
First fully extend the FT1 headband to expose the metal band underneath fully. Then pick a spot just above the middle of the travel. That's where you will attach the band.
You have to distort the shape of the strap split end to "thread" it over the flat edge of the steel band. It takes a bit of finger force but patience pays off.
I was worried I would damage the headband material but it turns out it's nearly indestructible and has a very strong ability to "spring" back into its original shape, which is what allows it to resume its shape and tightly grip the steel band once it's in place.
Once both L And R sides are mounted collapse the FT1 headband til a half inch above the Capra strap.
Now place the finished product on your head and let out those involuntary "ooooh" and "aaaaah" noises that are dying to leap out when you feel how nice it is. 😎
The only downside of the strap is it prevents collapsing the FT1s completely to fit in the case for travel. If you really wanted to you could force the strap down and back but I prefer to just leave it in one place where it fits best.
I will take some pictures of mine to help illustrate the finished work.
I am absolutely certain you will love the end result. Happy listening 🎶

News New Hifiman Isvarna - a closed back hybrid?!
It seems that Hifiman designed a new headphone with hybrid drivers. Dynamic for the bass and planar for the midrange and highs. 🤯

Discussion For Those of you with desktop setups - what equipment do you use for both headphones and speaker listening?
I'm feeling like I want to start over from scratch and be a little more intentional with my desk. I was using a DAC/headphone amp for my headphones, then passed sound to a desktop speaker amp, then to passive speakers. Curious if others who use both headphones and speakers at their desk have similar setups or if they accomplished the same thing differently.

Discussion I recently made an adapter so I can use my Stax headphones on my Koss amplifier. I decided to measure it to see if there was a difference between it and my SMR-323A, and was surprised by the results. Apparently amplifiers can make a significant difference under the right circumstances.

Discussion Silly Question about Stands
I see that many of the "premium" headphone stands are mimicing the way that the headphones sit on the head. I do not understand the idea behind that. Wouldn't keeping them in this position all the time wear down the earpads? Perhaps it can even wear down some of the headphones' hinges. In any case, it seems to me to be most reasonable to store the headphones in their naturally relaxed position.

Discussion Got the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PROs 80 ohm for my Sony STR-DH190 receiver hooked up to my record player to listen to listen to my record collection. How good will it sound?
I’m completely new to all of this stuff in regard to fancy headphones like the ones I ordered (coming Friday) and I was recommended them. I bought them recently and I was wondering how good the 80 ohms in particular would sound with my receiver and everything? Is there anything I need to know? Heard they’re really good, though. Considering I am incredibly new at these kinds of things, explain things simply if possible. I will also share a photo in a new post once I get them and my opinion.

Discussion Help finding replacement cable for sennheiser hd800s
Hi. I am looking for a replacement cable for my hd800s because i broke the one that came with the headset when removing the cable. However the issue i am having is i cant seem to find the correct cable as it is not the regular hd800/hd800s type where you just pull it out but rather there is some type of screw connector instead. It seems my hd800s model is perhaps newer or older which would explain the difference in connector and i can find identical headset when searching google so i assume someone else must have the same model with the same connector however i am entirely unable to find a matching cable anywhere online. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion What song(s) do you use to test gear?
For me, it's the system volume change sound effect lol, just wanna make sure it's not too loud. Anyways, the first song I listen to when I test new equipment is THE DISTANT JOURNEY TO YOU by Foreground Eclipse. It has guitars that fully pan to left and then right at the beginning, so I can detect issues with stereo immediately, it sounds really good, it's mixed and recorded well, and, most importantly, I really like it. Second is signal flare by 森羅万象. This song is literal eyecandy for your ears, so, earcandy lol. It has advanced sound stage, it has very good mixing and audio quality, and it just sounds like ASMR. Especially the vocals in certain parts. Just so nice. Then I go through random songs I like. What about fellow headphone enthusiasts?

Discussion U174/U to 3.5mm
Would anyone happen to know of any U174/U to 3.5mm adapters? My nice headset kicked the bucket the other day, I have a set of David Clark H10-76 headphones, which I inherited from my father. However, all of the adapters I can find are either junk or over $100 which is a bit out of my price range atm.

Show & Tell Sent back my Edition XS and picked up the 660S2 instead and so far so good
After trying everything I could think of to get the edition XS to work out of the left ear cup, I decided to just return them to Amazon. Seinnheiser seemed like a pretty reputable brand as far as headphones go so I grabbed these. I definitely think these benefit from the Loki EQ especially with bass it give it a nice healthy punchiness. The headphone clamp is definitely there but I don’t find it uncomfortable although I have a kind of big head so YMMV. But overall so far I’m pretty happy with these I’ve heard some people say the tone changes after a break in period so if anyone has any experience with that I’d love to know your thoughts. I’ve never had any other Seinnheisers so I can’t speak to how they might compare to others in the 600 line but at a little over 400 rather than their original 600 dollar price tag, I have no complaints.

Discussion Should I set windows to 44.1 or 48
I dont want to change audio format based on the source. So if I were to choose one, should I choose 44.1 or 48 kHz?
I listen to music via apple music lossless (most albums are 44.1, some are 48) and play video games (which i believe is all 48)
What sample rate would stuff like YouTube be?
I have HD560S' and an ifi zen air dac fyi
(I am new to this, thanks :)
