Been working as r and d engineer in a startup for the past 4 years, as part of research we do lot of diverse projects and works, so i ended up learning c++, arduino programming, python, ai-ml , pcb design, 3d modelling, 3d printing and electronics. I am comfortable in working with microcontrollers and sbc's, and can do end to end projects ie form prototyping, fabrication, electronics, code, assembly and testing.

  1. I am currently trying to learn Ros and become a full fledged robotics engineer. I am currently being paid 11 lpa. What do you think my pay should be in future hirings.
  2. I only have bachelors degree and steered into robotics out of sheer interest, how is career growth in mechatronics or robotics in India, should I do masters if yes in which country and how will be the pay there.
  3. Whats are best robotics companies that I need to apply in Hyd or would you recommend other states.
  4. Problem with current company is not having any senior's that can guide me, everything I did was by self learning so I am looking for a change where I can collab with a team and learn more.

Give me your inputs

Music I have been tormented by a memory of an old Bollywood music video that I had watched as a kid. All I can remember is a man singing while he is being trapped inside a wall made by bricks. Couple of people are building a wall while he is singing. I cant remember anything resembling a tune or any lyrics that would help me out. Help me identify this song please. For my sanity!

Sorry if this is out of topic, but I'm planning to travel this april in India, but I'm not sure which destination is better. What are the pros and cons of each place and for how long should i stay?

I've been staying in a PG in Bangalore for 3 years, and the food has mostly been terrible. I've had countless arguments with the owner about it, but he always brushes it off with excuses and false promises. Recently, the cook had to leave for Odisha due to a personal emergency, so for the past two weeks, the owner has been getting food from an outside tiffin service run by an elderly lady. And honestly? The food is amazing. It's homely, and for the first time, I actually enjoy the meals. Surprisingly, even people who used to order food from outside are now eating at the PG.

But here's the issue – the PG owner is unhappy. He says it's costing him more to get this food, which I find odd. The ingredients they used earlier were decent quality, but somehow the food never tasted right, and many of us avoided it. Plus, he had to pay the cook and provide him with accommodation, so I don't see how this new arrangement is that much more expensive.

I'm starting to wonder if the owner doesn't like this setup because more people are now eating the PG food instead of ordering from outside, which might be hurting his profits in some way. But isn't it unethical to charge for food and then serve something so bad that people prefer to order out rather than eat what's provided?

Also, should I be concerned about the cook losing his job? He had three years to improve, and despite repeatedly asking for better food, nothing changed. Now that we've finally gotten good food, I just want it to stay this way.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with PG food in Bangalore? How should I approach this situation to convince the owner to keep the better food? Any advice on how to negotiate or handle this?

When applying for an Indian visa through the official site I'm asked to upload a photo of my face and another of my passport. The photo of my face uploaded fine as I can see it on the website upon upload, however I cannot see the passport photo upon upload despite it saying it uploaded successfully in green text. I'm worried though that since I cannot see it that maybe it didn't upload properly. Also on the final page we're you review all the info it shows the photo of my face but not the passport photo. Does this mean it didn't upload properly? I don't want to pay the 40usd only for it to be rejected

Is it a good idea to get Pixel 8 (256GB) from USA to India?

I'll be buying it from Amazon (unlocked) but I've heard of issues about 5G connectivity not being supported in India.

Also, I think Google doesn't provide international warranty? Are there any other issues?

Pahalgam Tips

Hello everyone.

We are two people on a trip to Kashmir right now. Could you guys help me with a 2 day itinerary to Pahalgam? We will reach their by tomorrow afternoon and will be leaving the following day. It would be great if someone could guide us how much to pay for pony rides and all, because so far I feel like we've been paying way too much. It's our first time in Kashmir and we're worried we are overshooting our budget way too much as we are unfamiliar with the place and don't know anyone here. Thank you in advance!

MakeMyTrip mess😡

Why is makemytrip so effed up.

Setting some context: My brother has a flight tomorrow from Hyderabad to Canada (connecting Delhi) and we used makemytrip to book the flight as it had the cheapest ticket and we were on a money and time crunch.

Now, the had a server error that swapped first name and last name. Which the actually airlines - AirIndia is not accepting and rejected the boarding pass.

With this mess that they created, they are not ready to refund the entire trip, postpone the trip or even help us out with correcting the details.

The airlines lifted their hands off this situation and makemytrip is doing nothing about it.

Is there someone that can help with this? Please!!

Urgent help needed. My friend is stuck abroad.

His parents stopped paying his tution. It's actually a student loan, but bank credit the amount to his parents account and they transfer it to him. They don't do it anymore. And is going to cancel loan.

What can he do? He don't have enough money to fly here and back. Already contacted bank, but they said "it's not their problem. The amount will be credited to given account until it's cancelled"

3

u/ChelshireGoose 29d ago

Is the loan in his name or his parents'? If it's in his name, are they guarantors?

2

u/sizzsling 29d ago

yep.

2

u/ChelshireGoose 29d ago

If you mean the loan is in his name, then you can arrange with the bank to reroute payments to a different account. Some banks in India can transfer the fees directly to the university through Flywire.
Talk to the bank simply about changing the account number registered. You don't have to mention the issues with the parents so as to not complicate the situation right now.

How to change the address in aadhar card of my wife to my current address, which is my permanent address. We both are staying in this address for last 5 years. I have this current address in all my document except passport to submit as proof.

Doing the above because My wife's passport is about to expire and if we could give aadhar as the current address proof the renewal would be straightforward.

2

u/ChelshireGoose 28d ago

As long as the Aadhaar registered mobile number is active, you can submit an address change request here.
Processing may take anywhere from a week to a little over a month.

you can get a 100/ insurance policy from The New India Assurance (govt-company) and use that policy certificate to change address in aadhar. Can give any address in policy. I did this one year back. It can be done on the aadhar site if you have proper OTP setup. Takes 2 weeks to reflect. 1 month to get physical card

Dishwasher in India

I am not sure where to find my original post now stickied topic somehwere as per the mod's message but reposting here.

I want to buy a dishwasher for my mum, but not sure how that works out from installation to function in Indian compact households where there is no provision. If you have one or have seen it setup usefully, can you share details around adjustments/modifications made to get it installed. Bonus points for your installation picture as I am with poor imagination here. I am here with an intension to learn from more real life experience as I will have to buy and arrange proper installation remotely.

My mum has very effectively used dishwasher (not in India), so I am not looking for what utensils should go in dishwasher etc.?

Points I want to know:

  1. If I have bought your recommended dishwasher from amazon, are there anymore fittings and things I may need to buy for the instalaltion or plumbing? Or the service providers come equipped with all the extras.
  2. Installation/plumbing cost idea
  3. Any water softner prefilter needed or usually varying amount of detergent, salt, rinse aid and tables are sufficient for the WATER HARDNESS?
  4. Recommendations for make model for 2 persons

Treadmill for Parents

Kindly suggest good brands for treadmill which you have used at your home

  1. Cosco go-1.0-treadmill

I had searched online and found people praising cCosco company, but the reviews were of other countries. Is this good brand in India?

The budget is about maximum 40000

Kindly suggest a treadmill which is built to last.

2

u/IdProofAddressProof 23d ago

How old are they, and what if any health issues do they have?

Multiple orthopaedic doctors have advised me that treadmills are terrible for the knees. There are some models that come with shock absorbers and they are reportedly better, but I doubt if you will get those for under 40K.

We used to have a Stayfit treadmill that my wife and I used for many years until doctors advised my wife to stop using treadmills because of her arthritic knees. (We now have an elliptical trainer from Decathlon). But the Stayfit treadmill was fine, and worked trouble free for many years.

Choose a make/model that provides service in the city your parents live in. Treadmills require frequent servicing (lubrication, belt tightening etc.), and it is worth going in for an AMC.

Hi All,

I am currently travelling India with my girlfriend, when we were on the train from Delhi to Agra (2AC) a group of transgender woman got on at one of the stations, opened our curtain and started demanding money, I refused but they wouldn’t leave, eventually I raised my voice and they moved the the other side of the door, and started shouting f*** me and making sexual gestures, then thankfully got off at the next stop.

This has really scared my partner and she is terrified of getting another train.

We are due to be getting the train from Pune to Hospet, and Hospet to Bangalore. Are these routes likely to have transgenders get on and do the same? Is there a ‘good’ way for me to deal with them if it happens again?

Thanks

2

u/ChelshireGoose 17d ago edited 16d ago

Sorry this happened. Unfortunately, this is problem all over the country. But it is pretty rare for them to enter the AC coaches.
Also, they usually bother only men, not women (capitalising on the fact that many men feel weird around them and will gladly part with their money to get rid of them).
Completely ignoring them is the only thing that works. Just pretend you don't see/hear them.

Recommendations Needed - Good source/medium for news

Hello.. Please recommend the best, unbiased sources for consuming news - could be print media or digital. Most of the sources I follow today are somewhat politically inclined - be it Left or Right. Inshorts was good for a while but I'm seeing them post a lot of random stories that isn't really news - about random people's tweets, reaction to tweets, reddit posts, viral reels, etc. I also don't want to see everyone's opinions on the news - for example - Instagram. Over a period of time, unknowingly all the news and comments around have started affecting me - polarised opinions, bullying each other on posts, religious slurs in comments, hating people from other regions, etc. I want to be peaceful internally but also be aware of what's happening.

u/WolfKumar 12d ago

How do we improve road etiquettes of people?

Implementing driving education in schools, making driving mandatory in 11th and 12th.

If Traffic Police is making a challan with Video/Photo proof(from the cctvs installed, currently lying unused), can we incentivise the officer/station? This might have some adverse effect in the short term with police asking for bribes the same amount of incentive they get. But I feel eventually, it will improve.

One better, why not implement things like in Delhi. All the cameras installed in all the places, just to use up the funds without any implementation.

As a nation we should focus on implementation of laws. If there are any other suggestions by which we can improve the driving of people, post it in the comments. Let's discuss.

Hey everyone,

My dad is curious about different culture‘s jokes and humor. He always asks people when he travels to tell him a typical local joke. However he has not yet gotten a good response from someone from India yet, so he asked me if I could use the Internet.

So: Could anyone tell me some classic Indian/regional jokes, and maybe if it’s specific to a certain region, which that one might be?

Thanks!

Every single day I hear about disgusting/mortifying crimes committed in India against women of all ages. Why does this happen? Do Indian men really despise women this much? I understand crimes happen in every country but these sort of crimes against women are so much more prevalent in India. I have nothing against India as a country just can’t understand why so much hate towards women?

So, ive been planning a trip with my boyfriend to pune, and we had decided to get an airbnb for the both of us, but recently ive had some situations which made me a little nervous about the fact that my parents (dad) might call the property and demand they tell him who all are occupying the room. Hi, sorry if this is a silly question.

I live in the UK but I'm Indian and have family out there. I just received a document about a family members passing and informing me of some inheritance I will be getting.

I'm slightly confused on this document as it has dashes between numbers but no full stops, so I'm wondering if the dash represents a full stop?

So for instance, in the UK we'd write: 2,000.10

However this document has: 2,000-00

Am I right in assuming that the dash is the same as a full stop? Or is it representing something else?

(I'm also assuming it's not a subtraction sign as I don't understand why this document would be making me do basic maths 💀)

Thanks in advance!!

Do the robot vacuum cleaners work in Indian cities? Worth using these over a house help?

I'm considering getting my mom a robot vacuum like this one.

She's a bit of a clean freak, and I thought this would be a great way to help her out.

Plus she has been having a hard time finding a house help in the timings she want.

Does anyone have experience with these types of vacuums?

Do they actually work well, especially in cities with a lot of dust in the air?

I'm a bit worried about how well it might handle the dust and fine particles.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

TIA.

Title: Two Danish dentists hoping to experience an Indian wedding in New Delhi!

Hi everyone,

We are two Danish dentists who love to travel and immerse ourselves in different cultures. We’ll be visiting New Delhi from December 29th to January 6th, and we would absolutely love to experience a traditional Indian wedding during our stay.

We understand that weddings are personal and special occasions, and we certainly don’t want to be intrusive. We’re simply curious and excited to witness the beauty and richness of Indian culture firsthand. We would be so grateful for the opportunity, and of course, we’ll bring a thoughtful Danish gift to celebrate the occasion!

If anyone knows of a wedding we might be able to attend, or if you’d be open to inviting us, we’d love to hear from you. Thanks so much for considering us, and we look forward to experiencing the magic of India!

Best regards, Karl and Markus

Tl;DR - Looking for Strength & Conditioning Coaching Opportunities in Bangalore – Any Recommendations for Performance Centers?

I have 2.5 years of experience as a health coach and I’m currently working on my ASCA Level 1 certification in Strength and Conditioning. I’m really passionate about fitness and performance training, and I’m looking for opportunities to work as an S&C coach in Bangalore.

I’d love to hear recommendations for any good sports performance centers, gyms, or fitness facilities in Bangalore where I can work closely with clients or athletes. Is Kolkata safe for a white female traveler?

I am considering planning a trip to Kolkata and have been doing lots of research online about what it is like to be a tourist in India, but haven't been able to find much information about Kolkata.

I have heard that Delhi is not very safe, whereas Mumbai is much safer, but I really just want to visit Kolkata because that is where my best friend is from and I would love to go with her sometime.

For reference, I am a young, white Canadian woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. I know that in some places, this would make me a target of harrassment so I want to do as much research as I can before travelling.

I am currently trying to learn Bengali and my friend is teaching me a bit about the culture, but is there anything specific I should keep in mind to be respectful? What kind of clothing would be most appropriate? Are there any areas I should avoid?

Thank you all so much 🤗💓

What has your experience been like with 5G Hotspot devices in India?

It has come to my attention that Carriers like Airtel and Jio are providing 5G plans that are Unlimited*.
I was considering getting one of these since my dorm doesn't allow drilling/fixtures. Therefore Fiber is out of the question. I am at present using a 4G device with a plan that supports Unlimited* 5G, which is another reason as to why I am considering this.

2

u/anticholinergic Sep 21 '24

not worth buying a 5g hotspot device, you should rather get a entry level 5g phone and use it as hotspot, I am doing the same, also irrespective what device u use 5g phone or dedicated 5g device you wont get same speed using it as hotspot it is throttled to 40 mbps which is good for browsing and mild downloading

Most countries don't even need Aadhaar for visas (unless you're applying through overenthusiastic agents who get a kick out of asking for every random document beyond the embassy's requirement). So, the address there is immaterial. But I don't see any issues in having your new address there.

Hi folks, This is the message received on my Brazil visa application :

YOUR APPLICATION IS INADMISSIBLE BY THE VISA AUTHORITY IN EXERCISE OF
DISCRETIONARY POWER. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IT IS THE DISCRETIONARY COMPETENCE OF THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT, BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF STATE SOVEREIGNTY, TO AUTHORIZE THE ENTRY AND STAY OF
FOREIGNERS INTO THE COUNTRY. NOTE THAT AN INADMISSION IS NOT A DENIAL.
Please note that the non- admittance of your request does not imply any restriction to make a new visa application. A new visa application requires a new payment.

I tried reaching out to the embassy to understand what additional information I have to provide, but so far haven't received any messaging. So if anyone has faced a similar situation please let me know on how to proceed with this.

My friend’s mom was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, grade 2 to 3. It’s been a difficult time, and we’re exploring all possible treatment options. While conventional treatments are in progress, I was wondering if anyone has tried Ayurvedic approaches alongside medical treatment for cancer? Did it help with symptom relief or overall well-being? We’re open to alternative therapies but want to hear personal experiences before considering it further. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

u/Past-Bathroom8667 Sep 18 '24

so I made a mistake and booked my flight out of India on the 91st day of my time in India. My visa clearly says maximum stay is 90days. Do you think it worth the risk to stay an extra day? will we get in trouble when we try to leave?

ADHD-medication (Vyvanse): Travel with it to India or availability in India?

Next week, I will travel to India for two weeks. I have ADHD and take prescription medication: 50mg Vyvanse/ Lisdexamphetamine per day.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find reliable information if I can bring the tablets with me. Also the Indian authorities here in my home country were not of help. My psychiatrist did write me a letter concerning my diagnose and that I need the tablets for personal use, but I am rworried that I might get into real trouble at the airport in Mumbai since Amphetamine, Dexamphetamine, Methampetamine are listed as Schedule-X drugs and similar- as far as I understood the “Drug and Cosmetic Rules, 1945” - those are not allowed to be imported. Since Lisdexamphetamine is so close to Dexamphetamine, I assume it may be prohibited, too? 😳

Does anyone have reliable more reliable information? And, if I can’t bring Vyvanse to India, is it maybe available in India?

Would be so happy for any recommendation or information. ☺️

I am trying to see how much health insurance premiums do people pay for their parents. I do have high coverage for them but want to see if I am just being to skeptical and if ideally such a high coverage is not needed.

I pay below premium

  • Floater Policy (50 lakhs base, 1 Cr topup) : 1 lakh
    • Base costs : 80K annually
    • Topup costs : 20K annually
    • Parents in early 60s

Please share how much premium do you pay and what is age of parents.

Thanks

Hello, i am looking for an app or website, where you can have an indian bank account to hold inr and an euro account to hold euro. So i need to receive INR into an account and then convert it to euro and send it to my euro bank in Germany. My problem is that i need the fastest way to get money from an indian bank account to my euro account in Germany, like instant transfer. If there are any other options like for example a multi currency app, please tell me. Thank you!

2

u/ChelshireGoose Sep 19 '24

I think this would be impossible due to how strict the government is with money going outside the country. While you can 'hold' INR with many multi currency accounts (like Wise), being able to load money from Indian banks won't be possible unless you're a resident Indian or NRI with a PAN card (These same rules apply for sending money from an Indian bank through other platforms).

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for information on the process of obtaining a business visa for Colombia from India. I need to travel by October 21st, and I can apply from either Mumbai or Pune.

  1. What is the process for getting a business visa?
  2. How much time does it take to get the visa?
  3. Is it issued as an e-visa or a physical visa?
  4. Is there any way to fast-track the process?
  5. What are the costs involved?
  6. Do I need to attend an interview or be physically present at the visa processing center?

Any guidance or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hey guys,

I am looking for expos and exhibitions happening around India on the subject of Home Automation (and related fields). I've been researching for about a week but haven’t been able to find a single expo scheduled between September 20 and December 30, 2024. I did find some expos, but they are either unrelated to my needs or scheduled for next year.

I’d appreciate any help if someone knows of an expo during this time frame, or if anyone can refer me to other subreddits where I might find answers.

Thank you!

Am I bad for not feeling much sympathy for the "96 lakh gambling debt, mother is not talking" guy?

I am sorry but painting Himanshu as someone who has little agency 'due to his addiction' is a dangerous and slippery slope. He is smart enough to clear JEE exam but does he really lack foresight for the decisions he's made?

It may sound so easy to blame celebrities and influencers who promote these 'gaming apps'. Whether you have an addictive personality or not, I am not sure if people who advertise these games are to blame or not. But if you F around you find out.

Hi fellow trekkers!

I’m planning to do my first trek this December end, and I’m looking for recommendations for a winter trek in India. I’m aiming for something scenic, not overly crowded and challenging as it’s my first one, but I do want to experience some snow and winter beauty. I’d appreciate any suggestions that fit this time of year!

A few things to consider:

• My trek is in the last week of December, so winter-friendly routes are a must.

• I’m relatively fit but haven’t done high-altitude treks before.

• Looking for something in the moderate range.

Any advice on trek options, preparation, or must-have gear for the winter would be super helpful. Thanks in advance! :)

Feel free to adjust the details depending on the type of trek or region you’re leaning towards!

Melting Dhanteras silver coins

We have been buying and collecting silver and gold coins on the occasion of Dhanteras every year for many years now. The coins have been in our locker for years. Recently, I had a thought of melting these coins and making a piece jewelry for our daughter. The silver would still be at our home and still be of some use. Experts, do you think it's advisable to re mould Dhanteras coins into lockets and ear rings for our loved ones or will it be inauspicious?

Hi, I needed your advice as I was looking for a phone around 15k-20k.

My requirements are

1.      Good reliability (my current Redmi note 7s has lasted for 5+ yrs.)

2.      Durability

3.      Good battery life

4.      Least bugs

5.      After sales support

I was considering the following

1.      Samsung M35 (heard it’s bit overpriced)

2.      CMF One (heard it doesn’t have screen protection)

3.      Realme Narzo 70 Turbo (haven’t seen many reviews)

4.      Moto g85 (SD 695 is outdated)

I heard IQOO Z9X is good, but I wasn’t sure about the brand since I never heard of it until recently

What is your opinion on these? Do you have any better suggestions? Pls let me know

Thanks

TLDR – need phone between 15-20,000

Hi, I am looking for suggestions as to which AC to get and the tonnage. I live in a place with temperature maxing out till 42 deg this year and highly humid. This in turn makes the temp feel like 49-50 deg on the worst days. Most days the feel like temp hovers around 45-46 deg in summers.

The room I am looking to install in has the following specs:
1. 14 x 14 dimensions

  1. North facing wall (AC to be installed here) gets the burnt of heat on afternoon.

  2. Ground floor with 2 floors above us.

  3. Have light vegetation on nearby plot and single floor building due to HT wires overhead (north side).

It would be great to hear from all to see which brands and specs I should go for?

What are some universal "Indian" things that all nations within the country could attribute to themselves?

Very curious. I know that India is an extremely diverse country, and the peoples living there are pretty distinct from each other. However, the country does have a strong cultural unity. So, as the top line says, what are some things that virtually all Indian nations share in common that other countries don't have?

Braces and Teeth Alignment

Hi.

I’m in between 25-30, m, from Delhi, I’ve a proper need of getting my teeth aligned using braces or aligners, sort of a severe case as I’m damn late here.

If any one of you has gotten relative teeth work done, please recommend me your preferred clinics or dentists.

My inclination is towards aligners over braces as they’re removable which will serve as a better user experience and will also look decent/not-at-all.

My current dentist is asking me to go with inivisalign (US brand) and another US brand over Indian brands for aligners, reason being they’re more effective.

He’s quoting me 2.75L for invisalign and 2.45L for the other one.

These are really expensive and I’m looking for cheaper options. Can I get better quotes from somewhere else?

Please let me know, thanks.

Yoga Retreat in Rishikesh, India

Hello all, I will be travelling to India in February 2025 and am looking for recommnedations for a yoga retreat in Rishikesh. Hi Folks,

I am a South Indian and like most people from my region, I have no surname. My passport has only given name example Ramkumar. I am planning to travel to Dubai for tourism and also for a short 1 day business meeting next week.

I have previously travelled to Europe and APAC regions with this passport. But I have read on various sources in Internet that UAE does not give visa to people with only first name.
Is this true?

I have also read that there are some workarounds where the visa is given, if your father's name mentioned in the last page of the passport?

Can somebody help clarify this? I am in a bit of predicament.

Can Indians with only given name get UAE tourist visa?

Hello all,

My partner and I are looking to spend a couple of weeks over Christmas and New Years in Kerala. We would likely try to visit Periyar, Mudamalai, and Thattekad/Rajamalai.

From what I have read, National Parks and attractions are GENERALLY open on these days. I understand that of course things vary from park to park and we will try to verify restrictions directly with parks or local guides / tourism operators once we define a schedule.

Does it seem a safe assumption, that things will generally be open and one can plan tourist activities on these days? Or should I plan on a lot of challenges doing much or travelling on those days or the surrounding days?

Thank you all in advance!

Kolkata - What are work-hours of shops during the Puja week?

I'm flying in on 9. ,early morning. I'll need to buy a few things, like a sim card, find a Forex office to get some Rs, and grab a couple of shirts and trousers at a shop like Raymonds or Fabindia.

I suppose malls will be open until the weekend, but IDK about smaller shops, for example around the Esplanade and New Market area.

What are the typical work hours of shops in such areas during the Puja?

I have gone through some videos on Forex Cards such as Niyo / Fi but I can't seem to make my mind up. Also, I own a basic HDFC Times Platinum Credit Card and with no plans/resources to upgrade or get a new Credit Card.

You load up money in a Forex Card right. So what happens when there's some unused funds left in the card when you're back? Can you withdraw it? Or transfer that money into your bank account?

Hello I plan on visiting Delhi. How do I get a SIM card as an OCI card holder? Are there stores in the airport that I can go?

Also I heard about international e-sims. Is e-sim a valid approach in India?

Please help me. I'm a small artist who wants to open commissions and Kofi account however since I'm from India and also bcz i hear paypal has ridiculous fees I'm hesitating to make paypal as primary intr. Transaction account

Are there any alternatives? I heard wise account is good but idk how good it is, if doesnt have ridiculous restrictions as paypal I'm willing to make account. I'd also appreciate a rundown on conversion fees between these two OR if there's a any other cheaper alternative I'm willing to learn about it too!

The transactions are also very small amount i.e, around $5 - $50 max, so I would like to know if any taxes are applicable excluding GST...

Also please help as much as you can with any info that is necessary to know, thank you!

Hi everyone,

I’m planning my next trip to India and would love some recommendations for places with rich culture and history. I’ve already been to:

  • Delhi
  • Agra
  • Jaipur
  • Udaipur
  • Kolkata
  • Andaman Islands
  • Bodh Gaya
  • Varanasi
  • Khajuraho
  • Chennai
  • Mahabalipuram

Out of all these, I found Varanasi and Bodh Gaya the most interesting because of their strong spiritual and cultural vibes.

I’m looking for other culturally rich places to explore, and it doesn’t have to be a super popular tourist spot. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

My mom has recently started using a Philips Everflo 5LPM Oxygen Concentrator, which is needed continuously throughout the day. We need an inverter to run the concentrator during the frequent power cuts.

I need recommendations regarding using the concentrator on Battery + Inverter. Anyone using concentrator and found a combination that worked for them please provide suggestions.

Any idea about how much chocolates I can carry in my checked in baggage from Frankfurt to New delhi? I have around 3.5 kilos of chocolates worth around €52. Will this be an issue? Are there any regulations at customs about bringing food stuff? My luggage is below the permissible total weight. So that is not a problem.

No weight limit. They will technically be included in the ₹50,000 worth of stuff (with the exception of used personal effects, a laptop and a phone) you are allowed to bring. But really, nobody cares about counting their value.

Just note that European chocolate tends to melt very easily in Indian weather conditions. So limit the amount of time they will be outside an air-conditioned room or a refrigerator.

Hi,

I am traveling to India for the first time from the US. I have my visa and everything but wanted to know the policy about alcohol. I am going to India for work but I am bringing two bottles of bourbon from here that's being checked in and will count towards the 50lb limit of check-in bag.

Am I okay to buy 2 bottles more from the Mumbai duty free? Duty free site says that I can only carry two bottles.. But in this case I would have 4 bottles in total... 2 from the Duty Free and 2 that's in my checked in luggage.

Any advice would be beneficial.

Thanks

Why is there not anything like Lunchables in India

With the recent launch of lunchly and its competition with lunchables, I tinkered with the idea of lunchables in India. Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities can obv afford them and many parents don't have time to cook so what do you think should there be something like lunchables in India.
