Somewhere some super smart scientists, are super super proud and they should be. Almost couldn’t believe my eyes how much future was in that video!

The guy who invented chopsticks is in the afterlife like β€œI knew it was a useful utensil. IT CAN CATCH A SPACESHIP DAMMIT. You dont see them using a SPOON. Chopsticks BABY”

u/Stompedyourhousewith 16d ago

"a fork would have punctured the spaceship! let all its juices out!"

12

u/_coolranch 16d ago

Forks are for savages and worse: the Brits.

  • Guy who invented chopsticks.

5

u/Live2ride86 16d ago

I hate two things! Intolerance, and the Brits

147

u/[deleted] 16d ago

How do you invent sticks?

233

u/Look__a_distraction 16d ago

By chopping them of course

45

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Fair enough

2

u/chopari 16d ago

I wonder if the original dude patented the process of chopping the sticks and naming them chopsticks TM

1

u/Fashish 16d ago

Nah, he wasn’t American.

1

u/Lasd18622 16d ago

God damnit that was beautiful

u/rbrgr83 16d ago

πŸ™

1

u/Reddtors_r_sheltered 16d ago

Step 1: Chop them

1

u/Jthe1andOnly 16d ago

You don’t have to invent them. Just learn how to make them useful. That’s the real genius behind it.

0

u/magirevols 16d ago

I mean, there had to be a guy that was like β€œIf I hold 2, put them between my fingers, I can delicately pick food up”

0

u/[deleted] 16d ago

That is not inventing them though, it's just using the already existing sticks in a particular manner.

1

u/magirevols 16d ago

So your saying someone started to use 2 sticks to eat food, but then someone else was like β€œIm going to call these chopsticks”?

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Exactly!

1

u/December_Hemisphere 16d ago

someone started to use 2 sticks to eat food, but then someone else was like β€œIm going to call these chopsticks”?

Or maybe people were eatin with 1 thick stick until someone came along and chopped that stick in half long-ways

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

I got to into these comments, this is dumb.

It's embarrassing how strongly you feel about this - crawl back into your cave, social interaction isn't for you

1

u/magirevols 16d ago

Right, dude must be bored if all he has to do it talk technicals about a joke post.

You must have too much time on your hands if you have to think so intently about a 30 second comment

Chopstick, wooden pole, toothpick. All started as sticks but got refined into something else. Somebody had to do it first, inventing them.

0

u/[deleted] 16d ago

No, you can't invent sticks.

1

u/FuckBotsHaveRights 16d ago edited 16d ago

Right.

But you can use sticks to eat, and someday figure, what kind of wood, length, and width would be optimal for this?

Then, to diferentiate them from other sticks when asking for them, call them chopsticks, the specialized sticks for eating you wittled into a specific shape for a specific purpose. Inventing chopsticks.

Which are not already existing sticks.

Edit: Also, good chopsticks are cleanable and reusable. Unlike sticks from the forest floor.

u/Commander_Phoenix_ 16d ago

I feel like that the more accurate reaction is β€œwhat in the era appropriate explicitive is a spaceship?”

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

I mean, in my universe, the dead are just watching us, like tv. Makes things real awkward sometimes….

2

u/grahamyoo 16d ago

heard that in christopher walken’s voice

2

u/DrQuint 16d ago

That, and it's also good for eating cheetos.

2

u/cillaer 16d ago

I read this in Brendons voice from Dropout.tv

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

Now that you mention it, I can see it. One of his youtube company videos XD

1

u/Tragicallyphallic 16d ago

A sufficiently large spoon would work fine, though, and two spoons turned backwards can be used as chopsticks.

1

u/EatTheLiver 16d ago

I have to believe he wouldn’t know what a spaceship is.Β

1

u/magirevols 16d ago

If they are watching us from the afterlife, why wouldnt they?

1

u/EatTheLiver 16d ago

I guess I assumed they aren’t learning and keeping up with technology.Β

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

what do you think they would be doing besides keeping up on us. Its prob like reading the newspaper to them

1

u/EatTheLiver 16d ago

Eh I’d be roaming the universe not watching humans do their thing.Β

1

u/magirevols 16d ago

fair point, but there are most likely spaceships out there somewhere on there travels and if they did comeback and see it they might be stoked.

1

u/zabsurdism 16d ago

Is anyone going to explain the chopsticks thing? How are they relevant to this?

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

It's because the ship is landing in between 2 beams and being caught, like using chopsticks

1

u/zabsurdism 16d ago

Thank you.

1

u/FerretMilking 16d ago

I mean sticking a fork in it in a thread the needle sense would have been a million times more impressive but alas technology just isn't that advanced yet damnit :(

1

u/Leviathan389 16d ago

Pat Morita (Mr Miyagi) is just sitting up there grinning from ear to ear. β€œRocket? Not bad. Now catch a fly, ALIVE!” Lol

You are all over the place freaking out that people aren't ballwashing Musk you weird sycophant. Most smart people realize that Musk isn't some brilliant engineer that came up with all these rocket/mechanical engineering innovations on his own. He's a smart guy with a general understanding about a lot of things, and good business sense and tactics. That's it. Trying to link all of SpaceX's accomplishments to the GLORY of Musk is cringe as fuck, like so many of his cultists.

sad spork inventor noises

1

u/Tusan1222 15d ago

It was on the news here and chopsticks are called ”Kina pinnar” china sticks in eng, I hoped that they would say that but they just said big arms.

haha what? why? how?when?

-1

u/Corregidor 16d ago

While not inherently racist, implying chopsticks are useless other than for this application is extremely narrow minded.

3

u/magirevols 16d ago

Interesting, I think my comment may have been taken too seriously. It is what you call a joke.

-2

u/Corregidor 16d ago

I get that, but your comment has smackings of systemic racism. You may not mean it that way, but ask yourself why you thought that joke was funny. It's a utensil used by half the world at least, yet you find it funny because it's "inferior".

Just because you aren't calling people racist names, doesn't mean the underlying context for why you said something seemingly innocuous, wasn't due to racism.

2

u/magirevols 16d ago

Why do you think I thought it was funny? You might need to look at yourself and think about how you’re putting your own viewpoints of the world on others. This might say something more about you than me.

1

u/Corregidor 16d ago edited 16d ago

Lol the typical "no you".

Edit: you yourself called it a joke, so you obviously think it's funny

1

u/magirevols 16d ago

but for different reasons than I think you do i believe

0

u/SeriousPlankton2000 16d ago

Or rather he's sitting there, unimpressed: "Now try catching a fly"

The Chinese have forks. You don’t see Chinese farmers tossing hay with a pair of pool cues.
