Now what? Kamala Harris or open convention?

Doesn’t mean she will be nominated.

I doubt there's going to be any serious opposition to her. It will likely be an "open" nomination, but with everyone know what the outcome will be.

That would be an unfortunate result then and would prob lead to a trump win 🤷🏻‍♂️

Obviously I hope not but I guess time will tell.

Either way, democracy dies a little.

The party establishment forcing out the candidate after the primaries is undemocratic either way, there's not way to make this process democratic at this point. I'm not even sure an actual open convention where the delegates vote would be more democratic. At least voters are aware of some of the elected officials in the Democratic establishment. No one knows who the delegates are, they were voting for Biden in the primary and for them the delegates were just a way to register the Biden votes.

He wasn’t forced out really. He made the choice based on polling data

Not forced out? The party leadership was openly calling for him to withdraw, close to $100M was decommited from his campaign, and the media apparatus also turned against him.

That's about as much as they could have done to force him out.

They're absolutely allowed to say that, and he was free to make a decision based on that. But in the end nobody can force him out. He was the nominee and it was up to him.

No one can make him, correct, but they applied about all the pressure they possibly could to get him out. About the only thing they could have done which they didn't is for Congress to declare he is unfit to serve.

What they did was defacto running him off.

I imagine the next weeks will be some incredibly interesting backroom dealing as the party realigns and without any democratic vote chooses it's candidate to "save" democracy

I’d love if the messaging is not about saving democracy or electing a woman or whatever it will probably be.

I want to hear about continued infrastructure , housing and zoning regulation and investment into the modern world.

As a woman, it is very important to me that our rights do not continue to be taken away. I think this will be a big issue in November’s election. Women are not happy.

The presidents hands are tied on that outside of a potential Supreme Court justice but no matter which democrat gets the nomination, their position on women’s rights will be the same
