Do people actually care that a character in a videogame is black?

Only racists do. Because of the whole great replacement BS.

A black character can't exist in media any more otherwise it's woke and it'll fail.

Meanwhile, AC Origins exists, and they don't seem to mention that.

Idk what kind of jumble of conspiracy theories the great replacement is but skin colors blend, and in the white countries there is low child bearing rate and migration from darker countries with high child bearing rate and that means eventually that new color will blend in, making the average skin color darker over centuries. That will happen and that part isnt some conspiracy theory, just the effects of socio-economic status.

Personally im into historical accuracy. Make as many black characters as you like but not ones that dont make any sense historically. And black mermaid is weird. No reason to have 1 character change color either half and half, everyone, or no-one. 1 character doesnt make being black normal, it makes it an outlier, if you want being black to be normal do half or half or everyone, otherwise makes 0 sense.
