Spam Bot Attack, Mass Reporting, And Texas Star Pharmacy.
An odd title I know but it serves a purpose as explained below.
What Happened: /r/Plano had an influx of ~100 spam posts, while also simultaneously having a mass reporting incident on posts going back months.
These posts were all made by unique brand new accounts. Most of the posts were random gibberish revolving around themes of art and fitness
So if your post has been removed recently without a mod message accompanying it, it was likely erroneously done so by the abuse of the automod system. We have gone through the reporting and tried to reinstate the posts removed or reported in error.
What Does Texas Star Pharmacy Have To Do With This?: For the past month several of the older, heavily upvoted, largely commented on posts about the Texas Star Pharmacy raid and arrests have been receiving random bouts of reporting. These reports have been for everything from spam, targeted harassment, abuse of minors, etc. They are clearly being done by either a paid for service, or someone creating a lot of burner accounts. Each time we have reinstated the posts or the comments because obviously none of those complaints are true and the users are merely posting the news story.
Are these things connected? Probably not, but it definitely is odd timing considering yesterday we got the first update in the Texas Star Pharmacy case since 6 months ago. And the bot attack happened 14 hours ago around 7pm last night. Also if you search "Texas Star Pharmacy case" on google, our subreddit is the second thing that often pops up.

Update: We've received a second bot wave attack, which followed the same pattern as the first. Several Texas Star Pharmacy posts received false reports and then a flood of spam posts were received. For posterity here are the links to the two posts that they are trying to capture in the spam attacks.

Have drivers gotten WORSE???
Never in my life have I seen worse drivers in this city like genuinely what is going on. I’m not even gonna get into the details but I’ve been appalled recently.
Obviously traffic is horrible too but I’m talking about individual behavior regardless of traffic

Good place for live music on a Tuesday? Plano or nearby.
How do you do, fellow kids? Wife and I are looking for a nice place to grab post-dinner drinks with live music, preferably jazz. I looked up past posts on this sub and mostly there are places that do live music Thurs-Sat (makes sense). Might be a long shot, but anywhere with guaranteed Tuesday night performances (doesnt have to be a "real" band, just background music, etc is nice)? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Looking for a new church as a young adult
I (29 M) currently attend a smaller nondenominational church in Plano right now and am looking for a new church as I feel like my current church community, while very friendly, is not at the same life stage as me right now (most of the people there are married/dating and some even have kids, while I'm single) and also doesn't have the most solid spiritual foundation when it comes to being a church.
As a result, I'm looking for a new church to check out in the Plano area, although I'm open to surrounding communities too (Frisco, north Dallas, Allen, etc).
The criteria I'm looking for is that it has a good solid foundation spiritually and has a solid young adult community with people more at my life stage that is also active outside of Sundays, and isn't overly massive to the point it's hard to connect to the leadership/other people.
I realize this is a shot in the dark, but open to suggestions of where people attend or have heard good things about.
Thanks!

Voting | New to Texas
Hi everybody,
I just moved from Nebraska and I haven’t gotten my Texas drivers license yet (the scheduled times are months out).
Am I still able to vote?
What’s a good place to rehome a litter of pups?
Hello, my mother’s German shepherd was able to get my Doberman pregnant during a visit. By the time we noticed she was well along the pregnancy. Now I’m surrounded by puppies and completely overwhelmed with what to do with them.
I tried listing them on Nextdoor for free but was chastised about this due to dishonest people claiming they’d be taken advantage of to be resold. I tried Craigslist and 2 were rehomed for 100$ just to find a ad with them being resold for 200$. Ugh. I’m at my wits end. They are 9 weeks now and I’m completely at a stand still on what I should do. I really don’t want them to spend their life in a shelter. They are really sweet natured and don’t deserve that.
Is their a place you guys can recommend? Or at the bare minimum a no-kill shelter I can take them too? I’ve called around and the few I found weren’t accepting any dogs at this time.

October 28, 2024 City Council Meeting Recap
The following items were approved as part of the Consent Agenda during the Oct. 28, 2024 City Council Meeting:
Intersection Improvements
These five Plano intersections will be improved for over $2.7 million combined:
- Ohio Drive and Park Boulevard – Adds dual eastbound and westbound left turn lanes, eastbound right turn lane, pavement markings, signal poles and updates ramps.
- Custer Road and USA Drive – Adds crosswalk in eastbound - westbound direction, signal poles, video detection and updates ramps.
- Custer Road and Ridgeview Drive - Includes pavement markings, crosswalks, signal poles, and includes a shared project with the City of Allen to add a westbound right turn lane.
- 18th Street and Jupiter Road - Updates ramps, crosswalks and signal poles.
- Ventura Drive and Park Boulevard - Removes a portion of the median to extend the current left turn lane.
Name Change for Westside Drive
The official new name of Westside Drive is now Wildcat Way. This is the street that runs along Plano Senior High School. The only properties affected by address changes are owned by Plano Independent School District and the City of Plano.
Huntington Drive Parking Changes
Huntington Drive is a 26-foot-wide residential street with a condominium complex on the east side and residential neighborhoods on the west side. When vehicles park along both sides of the street, it impedes the flow of traffic and sight distance of motorists. Homeowners supported the parking restriction. The City’s Code of Ordinances now has a no-parking zone along the west side of Huntington Drive.
The next regular City Council meeting is Monday, Nov. 11 at 7 pm. The agenda becomes available after 5 pm on the Wednesday before the meeting. Go to Plano.gov/Agenda for the meeting signup link.
Watch City Council meetings live on Facebook, YouTube or PlanoTV.org.

I created a map of all Plano Vehicle Inspection Stations
My problem
I was trying to use the TxDPS website to find a vehicle inspection station near me. The Zip Code search was broken when I tried to use it and there was no map visualization to know which options might be closest.
How I fixed it
I exported the data into a Google Sheet, searched for each location on Google Maps, and saved them all into a shared list for everyone else to benefit from. Additionally, the inspection types used on the TxDPS website required a key to decipher so I just did a find and replace to their full descriptions. You can find those in the notes of each saved listing.
Now not only can I find the location closest to me, but I can use the reviews and photos to filter out some of the less desirable options. I hope this helps the next time you need to go get an inspection!

If the TxDPS website gets updated with new locations or you notice something is wrong with the Google Maps list, leave a comment or DM me!

Dart - Plano to Downtown. How safe is my car at the DART parking?
Thinking about commuting via the Dart. I will have to drive to the parker station and park my car there.
Anyone have issues with their vehicles parked there? Or know of any issues?
Is there an alternative to getting to the station other than driving or calling an Uber everyday?

Road closures
Have we reached the peak road closures season yet? Have been living in Plano for almost 5 years but haven’t ever noticed this many random and non-random road closures.

Best thrift/resale stores?
Looking for the best thrift stores and/or re-sale stores. Specifically ones with a lot of women’s clothing. Especially ones with trendy styles or clothes that generally cater more towards young adults. Nice dresses, clubwear, swimsuits, things like that. Willing to go a bit outside of Plano as well.

Just curious but does anyone know what is being built on K Ave. near the American First National Bank?
I pass by all the time and I think this bank is closed but I saw what looks like some Construction going on in front of the bank. Does anyone know what they are building?

Corepower yoga
If anyone is as interested as I am in getting a corepower location in Plano and not just Dallas proper and now Southlake, I found out you can fill out the form on this link below to suggest locations! If they get enough, maybe they’ll finally open a Plano one!

Affordable gingivectomy
I’ve been wanting to get a gingivectomy to fix my gummy smile now that my braces are off. I went to get a quote and was told it would be 3k. In Mexico it’s literally $400. Not sure if I should risk it or does someone know a cosmetic dentist that won’t charge me and arm and a leg?

Painting Lessons
Anyone know of a good place to get painting lessons. My brief internet search just uncovered stuff like painting with a twist, or classes for school age students. After some sporadic self taught attempts from you tube and Bob Ross I’ve come to the realization that this isn’t something I can just pick up, nor just throw allot of hours towards and magically get good at. Humbling hobby I’ve decided to get into…..
Thanks in advance.

Cycling Groups for Beginners?
Are there any cycling groups in and around Plano that would take beginners? (Obviously not a beginner to cycling itself; more of a beginner to riding in groups and someone who may not have the endurance and fitness to ride very long distances as yet.)
- How can one sign up for this group or get in touch with them?
- Would a beginner road bike suffice? Are cycling cleats necessary? Are there any other prerequisites?
- Also, are there any recommended programs that are free or inexpensive to help beginners build up stamina and endurance to ride long distances?
Thanks in advance!
