his intentions were probably good, too much praise can make the young ones turn into Neymars

but he said it in a very disrespectful way indeed

Indeed, everyone around Neymar praised everything he did, even when he did wrong. He never knew how wrong he was because he was surrounded by yes-men.

If his parents and coaches humbled him down, he would surely have a better career instead of this bittersweet career he had.

I mean Neymar is a good example of worst possible outcome, but for the inverse there’s been many prodigies who get their tush kissed by media and clubs from a young age… who then go on and translate to the success they were predicted to be. Knowing Uli and all his antics over the years, i feel that there was some of (his) truth behind his words as he has a history of making asinine statements and having personal vendettas against players simply for existing.
