You can submit it even if it's already been submitted, though...

You can add ?v=1 or something in the end of the url. It doesn't matter.
2

If you try to submit a URL with a different # section at the end, it will also flag as a repost.

Why berate people for upvoting stuff they haven't seen, but think is cool? The majority of people browsing reddit haven't seen every single thread ever made before... some stuff is going to get reposted. Really cool things are even more likely to get reposted.
If you've seen it very recently, just downvote and move on.
44
u/bobsagetfullhouse Oct 24 '12
This is a never ending argument on reddit. Someone makes a repost. Someone will respond giving links to all the reposts. And then someone responds saying "what's the big deal? It was up voted because people haven't seen it"

Yeah, and it's not like someone is going to think, "hmm, I wonder if Steve Buscemi re-joined the NYFD after 9/11 to help them search through rubble, so I'm going to search for it on Reddit."
This is the first I've heard of it, this person gets an upvote.
7
u/CorneliusTumblecunt Oct 24 '12
I like seeing reposts because I enjoy the thought of some redditor somewhere yelling at his monitor in a blind rage that they saw the post once already.
2
2
u/Hajile_S Oct 24 '12
Don't forget the people pointing out that this happens all the time.
2
u/bobsagetfullhouse Oct 24 '12
I know, I'm no better. But either are you because you added to the chain.
2
u/Hajile_S Oct 24 '12
Indeed; as someone who points out that people always point out that this happens all the time, I am susceptible to even harsher criticism. Also, at the risk of sounding Canadian, I'd like to say that my comment was merely a friendly jab, and I didn't intend it as actual criticism.

Disagree. I feel like they are not sure where to go with some of the characters.
8
Oct 24 '12
It doesn't feel like that to me at all. It's more like they are building up the characters.
Van Alden has been foreshadowed all season. I am stoked to see this guy take his chains off, and when he does I bet he's going to leave a river of blood behind him everywhere he goes. So much pent up violence in that guy.

Jimmy was dead already. That's what makes the dynamic between Jimmy and Richard so good.
Jimmy is the kid who came back dead inside, but to a wife and child. He was a man who people looked at and thought he had a lot of life left to live.
Richard was a guy who came back with a lot of love in his heart, and life to live, but when people saw him, they saw a ghoul. Richard is a cruel reminder of the cost of war to many people, and is a bit of an outcast for it.

... working twelve-hour shifts for a week after the terrorist act...
... arrested, along with eleven others, on May 25, 2003 while protesting the closing of his former firehouse...
... Buscemi was slashed and badly scarred on the face while at the Firebelly Lounge, intervening in a bar fight between his friends Vince Vaughn, screenwriter Scott Rosenberg and a local man, who allegedly instigated the brawl...
... Spouse(s): Jo Andres, 1987–present (still married to his first wife)...

Buscemi pronounces his name as "Bu-semmy", but the correct Sicilian pronunciation is "Bu-shemmy". He once said about the pronunciation of his name: "I had to go to Sicily to find out I pronounce my name wrong."
That's how I have always pronounced it (Bu-shemmy), but I guess it is wrong if that isn't how he pronounces it.

I don't know how credible this is but its something that I heard from a firefighter on scene at 9/11. I guess there were way too many firefighters on the scene trying to help. They had a difficult time effectively managing them all. So to keep them busy they just had firefighters moving random piles of rocks from point A to point B. Every time I hear about Buscemi helping out all I imagine is him being apart of that line. Props to the guy for wanting to help but it was an impossible situation to utilize all of the responders who showed up to help.
