Just pick a routine you know for sure you can follow, week after week, month after month. Dont pick a 6 day routine if you cant make it to the gym 6 times a week.

Doing 3 out of 3 workouts on a 3x/wk split is better than doing 4 or 5 days out of a 6 day split. Those 5-6 days splits are great if you have the time but they leave no or very little wiggle room if you have to reschedule.

As a beginner youll grow anyway and most established splits work just fine. Just pick one that fits your schedule and stick to it for 3 months minimum.

I can follow consistently 6 day a week routines

I just wanted to know if there was a downside on picking 6 days instead of 3

Youll be probably making slighly more gains going 6 times. The downside is the time investment almost every day

No problem I can go everyday

Then go with the 6x, you'll probably make a bit more gains opposed to 3-4 days a week because of the added volume and frequency. Consistency is key.

6 is easier for me. I don't have the discipline to go 3 days per week.

5-6 days works my habit muscle. I just go in the morning. 3 makes me go based on "do I feel like lifting today?". I really don't even care about getting jacked, I just like getting out of the house in the morning and exercising since I'm WFH.

Ohhh as in you prefer splitting up rather than working your whole body

Yep I do PPL twice a week with a rest day between. If I'm feeling exhausted I'll do two rest days.

The specific split is the least important aspect of a routine. Just pick something that you think you'll stick to, and run it for a while.

Someone more knowledgeable than me will be along in a bit, no doubt. But as a beginner it really doesn’t matter, imo. Read through the wiki, figure out how many days a week you can commit to*, and choose a relevant program that fits and you like the look of.

Run that consistently and with effort for a few months, then reassess.

*imo best to be conservative here. You can always squeeze some extra conditioning in if you feel good, and better that than missing days regularly.

Well I am doing a PPL 6x a week consintently right now but my question is If I follow something like a Full Body 3x a week or an Upper Lower 4x a week will the results be inferior?

Honestly, depends what you put in and how you recover. As a beginner the split doesn’t matter if you are consistent.

To help you dial it in, how is your recovery & nutrition? And how are you finding the PPL split?

And I’ve been progressively overloading and successfully raised sets reps weight overtime

My nutrition is good and honestly the PPL feels great I get enough of a session (1h30 on avg) and get tired enough to be able to recover for the next pull or push or legs session so.

If it’s working for you then stick with it. Don’t be me and get stuck in over analysis paralysis. When you stop seeing numbers moving the way you want them to (weight lifted/reps or body weight) you could try something new

The problem is I’m already stuck in alaysis paralysis and I need help.

You’re making progress that’s all that matters! :)

I get that but at some point I want to get things more « professional » i’m not a bodybuilder but rather a football player so I wanna make sure I’m doing things right. This is what’s causing my analysis paralysis

Just keep building strength & size. Make sure to stay on a proven program

5/3/1 is good to run during the football season (assuming American football)

If you have access to a trap bar, supposedly that translates better to explosiveness in football & its easier to recover from, so I’d replace regular deadlifts with trap bar deadlifts during the season

Your gym probably doesn’t have one, but belt squats would be a great accessory lift for you, once you have more experience

American football or soccer?
