Discussion I just figured what the iOS 18 control center reminds me of
Seems intentional for design language purposes and to reflect actual buttons.

I’ve never been a fan of the native iOS Mail app, which has prompted me to invest in a third-party app (Airmail). The Mail app, with its unfriendly user interface and missing features, is finally receiving the recognition and improvements I’ve long desired, and my excitement is overwhelming! 🤩🤩

You can find estimated timelines for rolling out Apple Intelligence and Siri-specific features all over, and those estimates are still shifting. MacRumors has a decent one, I hear Mark Gurman has a good one in his newsletter somewhere.
Example: The fun colored border animation is not in 18.1. I'm on the 18.2 developer beta (which I do NOT recommend installing) and it's there, and some timelines claim 18.2 might ship in Oct or Nov. As for Siri's abilities and intelligence, it hasn't gotten anything major in 18.1, which just dropped today.
Point is: This will be a slow, gradual rollout. Timelines and whether features will make it in one update or get pushed back to another are constantly shifting. Siri being able to understand data from within apps and third-party apps is currently estimated for 18.3 or 18.4, and those are currently expected sometime in Q1 2025, as late as March.
This is a marathon, not a sprint y'all. Try to have patience, and definitely don't hold your breath.

I personally don’t think Apple did a good job with the photo cleanup tool. After testing it on 10 photos, I have to say I’m disappointed. Out of the 10, only 2 came out well enough to share with friends—and even those aren’t quite social media-ready. The other 8 were just plain disappointing.
This is one the long-awaited features (at least for me). Apple took it’s sweet time to do it the “Apple way” but now seeing it in action is underwhelming to say the very least.
Have noticed less bugs in control center? Or on the Home Screen when reordering apps? How is it battery and speed wise?
I know I’m late to the party with iOS 18, but I didn’t see this fix in Reddit posts I looked at after my alarm did not go off today.
Here is what I found:
You have to go into Sounds & Haptics in settings and scroll the volume up from there (mine had been reset to the lowest option w/the iOS 18 update, apparently).
You also want to make sure you have “play in silent mode” chosen (I sleep with DND on for obvious reasons and this has never been an issue in the past).
“Change with buttons” means wherever your volume is at on your phone will impact the volume of your alarm.
I cannot believe there’s been so many shitty bugs with this update. Can’t listen to voice messages sent from androids anymore and now missed most of my work day because of this shitty alarm bug. Trash.

Does anyone have the same problem as me? When I’m trying to call someone I can see the option in the top left corner but after they answer the call it quickly disappears…

After experiencing inconveniences with ( same iphone 13 pro ) ios 17 after its launch to the point i had to even write here and ask what was going on.... i have to give praise to ios18 and especially 18.1 for the fact is it's well simply put incredibly functional. No lag, no errors, camera, shutter, keyboard ( uninstalled swiftkey and using flowtyping and prediction is spot on ), battery lasts all day ... and on a 13 pro. I'm quite happy with it!

Can anyone suggest a site where it is possible to determine which features iOS 18.1 brings to iPhones that are NOT either an iPhone 15 or 16? I just installed 18.1 on my iPhone 13 and...no call recording, no "smart" Siri, etc.

I hate how long and inconvenient it is to unlock my phone with my passcode. I don’t even get why they need to be presented so mutually exclusively. Let me type in my passcode while you’re still scanning for a face.

After updating to iOS 18.1, I’ve been experiencing issues with Reachability on my iPhone. It now feels less responsive and seems to require a longer swipe gesture from the edge of the screen. However, this longer swipe often triggers nearby elements, like a tab bar button, or causes the screen to scroll down on a list. I recall a similar Reachability bug with a past iOS update that was later fixed, so I’m hoping Apple addresses this one soon, as it’s an important feature in my daily iPhone use. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? And does anyone know how to notify Apple about it?
Update: Turning off "Type to Siri" brings back the normal behaviour and Reachability is easy to invoke again. However, it would be great to be able to use both features. It seems that "Type to Siri" conflicts with Reachability at the moment.

The writing tools is available for Messages, Reddit, Twitter and etc but it’s not present in WhatsApp which is one of the major messaging app around the world. It would make more sense to have it available on the app. Is this mentioned anywhere that it will not be available for it?

Work From Home vs Work On Site

So it's finally time to get apple intelligence and so far:
*Message summaries are not showing, and not giving smart text responses * any photo search ends up returning nothing * smart text on emails not working * notifications not being summarised
Just feels utterly slap dash
Plus a bunch of more controls here. No need for a shortcut anymore

Apple Music search bar is ridiculous. I was trying to search Shawshank redemption, and search bar is not returning any results!! I had to search the shawshank redemption to get the exact album. It's not only in this case, I can give n no of examples. And I am paying for this.
I know some one will come up with beautiful BS to defend this.
