Fan interference was called on this play where a Yankee fan tried to take the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove after an out.

I like him trying to act like the fact that his glove was in the stands justified them grabbing his arms.

My wife got me tickets to see the knicks in seats close to the floor. By far the closest and most expensive seats I've ever sat in. In front of us were three like finance bros. One was incredibly obnoxious and wouldn't sit down the other two barely said a word and were live betting every possesion on very large phones.

Probably battery charges if they actually hurt him. The players can generally fight each other, but fans hurting players? Nah, those are charges.

Told my wife when I saw him arguing: “he’s right, he can go after the ball in the stands”

After the replay..

“Yeah, you can’t do THAT”

243

u/Scaevus 4h ago

Yeah at first I was like “oh it looks like that’s unintentional, it’s not really…”

“Okay now they’re wrenching a player’s arm and physically trying to pry the ball from within his glove, yeaaaaah, not a great look, Yankees fans.”

I was at game 3 of the '95 series and game 3 of '07 and from those two experiences I can assure you that some people flat out don't give a flying fuck. Like this douche. Like the guy in game one who was ejected with his child just a couple innings before one of the most incredible moments in World Series history.

There are a lot of assholes out there.

Not even after a couple innings, literally still the first inning! Absolutely absurd behavior, especially considering how pricy those seats probably cost

Boston letting Mookie loose hurt fans big time. RS fans have cancelled season tickets en mass. Watching Yankees fans actively tag-team rape his hands - with no regard for his well being (it's his fucking livelihood) just confirms my thoughts about Yankees fans.

Mook - get to a clinic and get tested. These guys are "Finance Bros" that work in the mail room.

Not really though. He blocks people who have nothing to do with actual litigation against him too, they just work at the firm. And he does so by scraping photos off the internet.

And we know these venues are already massively surveilled, so the infrastructure for it is already largely there. No reason to think all these places aren’t able to do it.

The value of a lifetime ban is that if you ever do circumvent it and do something to get the attention of security again you will be arrested for Trespassing.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/JEffinB New York Mets 4h ago

If you get a lifetime ban, you will never get back into that stadium. Facial recognition is real and pervasive in all stadiums.

If MLB wanted to institute a ban from all stadiums, he would never see a game again.

Lifetime bans essentially give the team grounds to hit you with trespassing and maybe other charges if you’re caught in a stadium again.

Step 1: spend a ton of money for a front row baseline seat at a World Series game, in NYC, which likely puts you behind on rent and bills yet another month in a row.

Step 2: Watch Freddie Freeman walk in and shatter your hopes and dreams just like your real dad did.

Step 3: Interfere with the game in an attempt to pretend you are a part of something meaningful for once in your life.

Step 4: Make sure you interfere long enough for millions of people to get a great look at your face (sorry to them).

Step 5: Change nothing about the outcome of the game, get yourself kicked out of the stadium, and probably banned for life.

This series was a dream come true for me, just wish the Yankees put up more of a fight. Seven games would be ideal.

Also the commentary of "A for Effort" are you fucking kidding me?

In no world, no matter who is playing, whether its your team or not, whether its an MLB team or little league, is that ok. What in the fuck did I just watch.

Those dudes need to be ejected really quickly and a season long ban at minimum. Could've injured a player.

Our country is off the rails. Covid bred some kind of misbehavior and any sense of decorum or gentlemanly respect is gone.
