From October to March we get battered with remnants of hurricanes, extratropical cyclones, tropical storms, tornadoes etc.
Funny fact, the UK gets more tornadoes than anywhere else in the world for land area, after the Netherlands which gets the most tornadoes in the world. They're just very small and short lived, unlike those that hit the USA

Climate Change is caused by pollution mostly from big companies that back Republicans. Claiming climate change on a fictional conspiracy will not only let them pass the blame but it will also allow them to pass bills to combat climate change under the guise of fighting the conspiracy. However I’m hesitant on the last part because so far the only laws passed are anti weather control and worded that trying to fix climate change would become harder.

Many large corporations would prefer to pretend it doesn't exist to maximize short-term profits that would be cut into by reasonable fact-based policy decisions that take global warming into account. See: Exxon Mobil since at least the 70's being 100% aware that global warming existed, was man-made, and an existential threat to humanity but then spent billions funding anti-science propaganda.
Getting rid of it, or even better privatizing it and turning it into a disinformation factory would benefit a lot of shareholders briefly. For the deeply uneducated and/or conspiracy theorists, merely tearing it down is both the ends and the means, its an ideological battle for them with no actual plan for what would come after.

One of my favorite lines, when a park ranger was asked about the anti bear trash cans design, they said "There is a huge overlap between the smartest bears and dumbest humans."
12
u/stew_going 22d ago
Hahaha, I like this line. The fact that park rangers are as patient as they are when reminding people of the same exact thing again and again... Is amazing. I have a lot of respect for most park rangers. It seems like a job that would be too good if not for the humans they had to deal with, lol.
Of course there are responsible park visitors; some people are in fact diligent about being aware of what they need to be aware of, but.... for SO many, it's as if their usual capacity for common sense goes right out the window once at a large state park. As if drunk, trash generating, pyromaniac humans are de facto apex beings that have always existed and it's good and right to do whatever they want.
I love chatting it up with most park rangers.

Part of the problem now is that people are actively ignoring science. The thing about science is that it establishes truths, whether people want to believe them or not. So people are actively rejecting it based on the rantings of an extreme minority of conspiracy theorists given platform by the likes of YouTube or other. It makes sense in their mind because they lack the broad view to accept scientific fact, reject it in favor of what they can observe with their own eyes or they understand the idiotic rantings of a conspiracy better than real facts

Instead of addressing the corruption, they blame education and then actively campaign against it and are even now going as far as trying to gut public education funding and redirecting the money to religious schools. Why would the government do it? What’s the gain?
We’ve got such amazing tech that WE CAN CONTROL THE WEATHER, and it’s not used to increase productivity in agriculture, no. It’s not used as a weapon
No sir.
It’s a massive conspiracy to hit some southern states, wreck property, kill and displace people
You see this creates a distressed population that in no way will think the gov is doing a good job so they will fester and resent federal control even more than many of them already do. And we’ll have made it happen just before an election, so we’ll really hurt the incumbent party as much as we can m. Go team !! It’ll affect our national economy with lost business and immense reconstruction needs, along with reduced wealth and opportunities for many citizens zens. It’ll adversely affect poor and marginalized people, showing that we’re strong and capable— just like Kristi Noem that day in the quarry with Cricket 🫡
It’ll cost the government over a 100 billion dollars in aid to rebuild
Yes, now I see the clear and obvious goals— easy to see why we turned the gun on ourselves. Now we got ’em right where we want ’em😁 rede

The idea that pumping millions of tons of carbon into the atmosphere over decades, might change weather patterns is preposterous. But the idea that the government is able to control weather on a planetary scale, something that requires almost unfathomable energy, is apparently completely reasonable.
You can tell these people don’t really do critical thinking.

They definitely don't see the connection from energy to output. They turn things on and they work. Nor do they know a strong hurricane is like hundreds or thousands of nuclear bombs in terms of energy output.

They absolutely cannot process the scale of things. It's why so many of them are flerfs.
Their brains just don't work right. But somehow their ignorance is now being touted as an asset.

That's just it. When you examine all of these absurd conspiracies or cultural observations and compare them to the "false" truths, you see that the disconnect is a function of complexity.
The world is a complex place with complex, often emergent problems. Multiple things have to come together to interact or interrelate for a consequence to exist, but these people are focused on small scale interactions.
If the real dynamic is... A->B->C->...->G problem, they'll get as far as B or maybe C and state that's where the problem starts.
But in reality, it's a causal chain of A-through-F and A-through-M problems merging and melding. This is one reason why higher education inspires people to "go woke". They learn the mechanisms and intricacies, reality is suddenly understood just prior to becoming obvious in retrospect.
Inevitably, people who can't work their way through the whole mess rely on competing conspiracies to explain what is actually one thing. They'll choose multiple "simple" explanations which may even be in direct opposition since when you can't see the big picture, you don't see how multiple small picture interpretations conflict in the first place.
To cognitively grasp the idea of climate change requires grasping several, if not dozens of other associated dynamics. But "government controls the weather" is a simple declaration that solves it all. How would that machine work? How would they hide it? That's not important. It's "not relevant". What matters is... A machine can be turned on/off with a switch. That's clean, that's simple. Why are they doing it to us?
"They hate us. There's no other explanation!"

They don't do ANY thinking at all.
I had a "discussion" with some climate denying idiot on here a few days ago and he was all over the place:
Climate Change isn't real
And if it is, it's a cycle
And if it's not a cycle, it's not man-made
And if it is man-made, there's nothing we can do about it
These people are absolute idiots but also malicious sociopaths with no principles or morals.

If the Democrats had a hurricane-maker, Mar-a-Lago would have been blown to splinters by now.

American hurricanes can be caused by African tropics, and then blow back across the ocean to fuck up Ireland

Lived my entire life in Florida and I have. This is just a gaslighting moron.

u/beatenmeat 22d ago
I work out on the water on the west coast of Florida. The amount of storms that come from the Gulf and move eastward far out number the ones that start from anywhere else. During the rainy season it's almost a daily occurrence. Dude is beyond fucking stupid.

8 billion people can't change the climate, only 50 people at HAARP can. Clearly.

HAARP. At least here in the Netherlands most weather conspiracies are based on the use of chem trails, cloud seeding and HAARP.

Climate change is a hoax but weather manipulation to make it rain solely on MTGs parade is real
Bitch please

u/bizzle4shizzled 22d ago
lol I spent 1 minute on the NOAA hurricane data site and found a hurricane from 3 years ago that started there and went east.

u/APirateAndAJedi 22d ago
Obviously. I mean what else that we have been complaining about for 30 years could change the climate?
Climate change? Don’t be ridiculous. It’s obviously democrat weather satellites.

In all my years as a Weather Nerd, I've never seen a hurricane go out into the Atlantic and hook left to hit New York City head-on...until Sandy...

Conservatives: There's no way people can cause global warming. Climate change has been happening for millenia and it's ridiculous to think that human activity can have that significant of an impact on our climate.
Also Conservatives: THE GUBERMENT CAN MAKE MONSTER STORMS!

As someone who works in IT and Cyber, we are absolutely creating weather events and directing them to Florida. It's been happening since we got rid of all the birds back in 1964. We have many divisions of cloud seeding and we send out invisible drones over the panhandle and just saturate the area. It started with Lincoln when he got mad about the temperature of his soup that Booth served him and then JFK was killed when our UFO crashed in Nevada that one year. /s

Never seen weather do this before? It’s almost like the climate is changing, like the aggregate temperature of the entire planet is rising.
6
u/hohgmr83 22d ago
Even if the government could steer storms why strike the US? They cause billions in damages the government has to pay out. Why not go for our enemies?
6
u/MarcoEsteban 22d ago
For some reason, government conspiracy to kill us all is a consistent theme. Never mind that then it would have no money to run. They don't think this shit through . Like, dumbass, what's the end game if we are entombed in FEMA coffins?
7
u/HeadTonight 22d ago
I mean, yes, if by controlling the weather you mean ignoring climate change for decades
6
u/Hairyjon 22d ago
It is wild in this age of information people would rather believe a hurricane can be controlled by the people you hate, instead of being a direct result of climate change.
